As the title says, do you think the stuff in the banned cover art was intentional or not, and explain why.

I'd HOPE not. But I can't say since Disney has had a history with this kind of thing. Such as; the Rescuers, with the nude woman as they fall past a window. I want believe it wasn't intentional and that a lot people just a had a dirty mind. LOL

Do you think that someone put it in there, as a joke, and hoped no one would notice. I think that's a possibility, because I don't see how that can be accidentaly done.

It's very possible. I'd like to think differently but it was pretty obvious, once it was pointed out. That's the thing: It's not obvious, until you find it, THEN you can see it. And there's no good argument since it doesn't flow with the other lines in that part of the cover.

The great mystery is who actually did it. I wonder if he/she actually came out and admitted something about this. I haven't heard anything, but it would be pretty interesting.

I belive I remember reading somewhere that the guy drawing it was on a deadline and ahd been working all night when he did it. He didn't notice it until it was pointed out to *him*.
I wish noone had noticed it though because, unfortunate edifice aside, it's easily my favorite of the three US covers.

I choose to believe it was not done on purpose. Like Elphie, it's my favorite cover design for the US. It's just so gorgeous and captures every element of the film without being overwhelming.

I honestly can't.

Because it's such a sweet and lovely cover, that one might prefer to ignore the naughty thing simply since it just shouldn't be there. And that's just gross. LOL

I ignore it. If I've never heard of this, I wouldn't have seen it at all.

I started to find out when my Ethics teacher put on a program about subliminal messages in movies, music and tv.

Yeah, I got A's for that. When I was first told about the VHS cover, I felt like it was nothing new. The mermaids themselves were scantily clad to some opinions.

Yes, they were. We weren't allowed to see Aladdin when it first came out because Jasmine was a little too sexy according to some friends who had seen it. Then my dad rented it and said they were over-reacting, so we watched it.

Well, Jasmine has a variety of costumes but the red one was the most provocative because she distracted Jafar. Oh and my friends were constantly making Lion King subliminal message jokes back then.

My family is very conservative, as am I. So conservative that my fiance and I didn't kiss until the night he proposed.

Wait, I'm confused. What's this about a banned cover?
