The original cover from 1990, that's basically the same as the original movie poster, was recalled about 8 years ago because one tower of Triton's castle looks like male anatomy on close inspection.

Oh I remember hearing about that  I think that's a bunch of people nitpicking with Disney again. I mean, I highly doubt it was intentional. I think it's the people with perverted minds who originally saw it that way and pointed it out. I don't pay any attention to it. |

My family is very conservative, as am I. So conservative that my fiance and I didn't kiss until the night he proposed. Yeah, I can understand that, but that's a little too far, if you ask me. I do. Honestly, the design of spiraling towers is a little phallic to begin with. I could see how someone in a time-crunch might have drawn a piece that looked suggestive and not noticed.

I'm not sure about that, I mean, especially back then, artists payed very close attention to what they were doing. That's what made Disney so magicial, and awesome back then. |

I belive I remember reading somewhere that the guy drawing it was on a deadline and ahd been working all night when he did it. He didn't notice it until it was pointed out to *him*. I wish noone had noticed it though because, unfortunate edifice aside, it's easily my favorite of the three US covers. Me, too! I love that cover a lot! It's my ultimate favorite TLM cover! The other two covers were nice but boring compared to the former. |

what the heck sorta person would notice that  that's all that makes me wonder. i would never even be able to tell, even if i examined each tower with a magnifying glass. @_@ i don't think it's intentional at all. that's ridiculous. though i actually enjoy the videotape cover that i have more than that one anyways (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51TBKF9ZGWL._SL500_AA280_.jpg)--the fully restored edition XD because the gold is really pretty XDD and i personally don't really like Ariel's and King Triton's expressions and the blue background in the banned cover. =) |
