All I see with the embedded and direct link is an interview with Faith Prince.

I did the wrong link then. Youtube isn't working for me at all now, so if someone wants to search "Ponyo trailer" and post the link, i'd be grateful.

Have you seen any of Miyazaki's films before? They're very very surreal, but they're amazing.

I don't care for anime, but I really enjoyed Spirited Away. So I'm willing to give Ponyo a chance. And Matt Damon being a voice in it doesn't hurt either!

The thing about Anime is it's a *medium* of one country, not a genre. The things that are most widely known here are the commercial stuff made for kids, usually young boys.
So it's sort of like saying "I don't care for American animation" or even "I don't care for Canadian TV shows".
In any case Miyazaki's films are amazing and I'd highly reccomend seeing more. A lot of themes and archetypes recurr throughout his work, but each story is unique as well. And the visuals are gorgeous. Even his earlier films still hold up really well.

I personally think Anime should just stick to anime, and shouldn't be twisted into regular animation. That being said, that trailer was surreal, but I don't see the amazing part of it. I mean, I don't even get the plot from that trailer. Heck, I didn't get much of anything lol..

I'm not sure what you mean about anime being twisted into "regular animation."
Dan, if you want to understand why I think Miyazaki's amazing, try watching Spirited Away. It's considered his masterpiece.

I don't see anime trying to twist itself into regular animation. There are multiple styles within anime, just as within "regular" animation. This is just one style. No one would say that Warner Brothers and Disney have the same style, so why should all anime have the same style?

Anyway, what I said was probably confusing, but I always considered anime different from regular animation, or american animation. It had it's own style, own flair, etc... I just don't see how mixing them together would be good, since they're pretty different.

This looks soooo cool! I saw the poster for it hanging in our theater the other day! I adore Miyazaki movies! He's so creative! I had no idea it was loosely based on The Little Mermaid though!

I don't really watch anime but it does look interesting. I didn't know it was based off of The Little Mermaid either.
