As the title says, list your favorite types, and least favorite types of music.
Favorite: Hard Rock, Classic Rock (mostly 80's), 80's Pop (Madonna, etc..), Techo (some, not all), and some istrumental.
Least Favorite: Country, Pop, Cr...I mean Rap, R&B, and Latin.
You can also list some artists, if you would like.

Eclectic tastes for the win!
Favorites: Country, Show Tunes, instrumental, world/vocal. A little rock and alternative.
Least Favorites: I'm not sure if I dislike any genre of music, though I don't have any techno, rap, or more than a few pop songs on my iPod. Some pop artists seem to think they're country (-cough-taylorswiftcarrieunderwood-cough-). If I had to pick I'd say rap. Most of what they play on the radio is crap, though I've heard very nice/positive rap songs.
Hate country all you want; I have to deal with that a lot. XD At least no one borrows my iPod because of it! I'm a huge fan of Sugarland, John Denver, and Craig Morgan. Any sad country song or country love song = love. For me, at least.

I'm not a huge fan of country in general, though there are a few country songs that I really like.
Despise rap and most hip-hop. Can't stand techno.
What I listen to most is oldies (50's and 60's), show tunes, big band/swing and some rock. I love Nickelback. I also have the soundtracks to all 3 Pirates movies and listen to them quite a lot. My dad is a blues fanatic so I'm pretty familiar with that, and with a lot of blues artists that most people have never heard of.

The only country song I ever really liked was 'Rap is Crap' that was done in WCW (Wrestling). That was really funny lol..
Geez, I didn't know everyone didn't like Techno lol.., I think it's okay in small doses.
Glad to see everyone sees the truth about rap lol.. I wish it would just go away, seriously.
BTW, if anyone loves music, you might want to think about Sirius XM. One of the best things I've ever received.

It's really annoying how every public radio station is in love with all the negative/disrespectful/all around crappy rap songs, but the rare rap has a positive message and makes me have faith in the genre. But PLEASE, DON"T BLAST IT IN THE RADIO SO IT SHAKES THE ROAD! -breathes- Okay, I'm done!
The crew over at my student newspaper got me addicted to Pandora. After LAUNCHcast died I converted. XD

Pandora is awesome! In December my sister found an awesome Christmas station that we listened to the whole month. I don't listen to music when I'm writing, but I do like it on when I'm cleaning or cooking.
My favorite thing to stream is swing station out of Cleveland that has no commercials. They play all the songs I love best and on Friday mornings there's usually a whole set of movie musical numbers.

And what kind of positive rap would there be Zavi?

Nothing on the radio, that's for sure! I know Superchick is loved by fans of Rap/Hip-hop, and from what I've heard of them all of their songs carry a positive message. They're not played mainstream, but they'd improve the genre (and my mood while driving by radio-blasting cars) if they were.

Could you provide some examples. I know there was a point in time where rap wasn't as bad as it is today, but I don't think it still had a 'positive' message. I'm pretty sure it was mostly created out of shere boredom lol..

Sure thing. Superchick, to my knowledge, isn't strictly rap, but they've got tremendous hip-hop influences. Try "We Live" or Fort Minor's "Remember The Name". Not sure if any are to your taste, but they're not misogynistic nor mindlessly violent.

I might check them out, but if they aren't strictly 'rap' then I don't think they would fit into the category lol... I mean, Linkin Park has 'hip-hop' infleuences, but it wouldn't be in the rap category lol..

Wow then don't I feel outta place. Most of you can't stand the types I listen to. But I listen to pretty much EVERYTHING, you name it - I'll be willing to hear it.
My personal favorites are hip hop, 'scene' music, alternative rock, 80's, some techno, industrial rock. My personal least faves are blue grass, gospel christian, old old country, and spanish music.
I do like spanish music though because it makes me crave my favorite food: mexican! =D
Some bands I loveeeee to the ends of the earth are Killswitch Engage, The Offspring, Within Temptation, Nightwish, and Avenged Sevenfold. =]
Don't hate, I'm still somewhat young =D!!!!!!

I do like some blue grass. It's in my blood because of my family roots. And my grandfather that's gone played blue grass, so it always brings up happy memories of him.

There is some rap out there that isn't "omghorriblejunglemusic". Outkast does (or did -- are they still together?) very fun songs, Kanye West (yeah, he's got issues but I think the man has talent) has some good songs under his belt. There were rap songs that had deeper and more positive messages in the 90s, but today, quite a bit of it is crap tho.
I know to each their own, but I thought I also needed to stand up and say that all rap isn't evil or whatever. I generally dislike country, especially as it currently is, but I love the Dixie Chicks, Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, and some random older (70s, etc.) songs. You could say I listen and like some of everything for the most part. All kinds of rock (except for songs where it's just screaming), folk music, like the sort of music featured in "O Brother, Where Art Thou", classic, swing, and the folk music performed in middle east (I'm sorry, I don't know know the name, I just know it sounds cool, IMO).

Most of what's in O Brother Where Art Thou is considered bluegrass. There's a couple of country songs, but most of it is blue grass. The movie takes place in the area of Mississippi where my maternal grandfather's family is from.

Oh! I had always thought it was considered folk music for some reason. That's really interesting to know.

It's blue \grass. The instruments used and the harmony type are what separates bluegrass from folk music. Blue grass uses lots of banjos, mandolins and fiddles along with 4 and 5 part harmony. My family sings in 4 part harmony because our music background is mostly bluegrass. And both my parents grew up in Baptist churches and hymns are written in 4 and 5 part harmony.

I thought I had replied to this already, lol. Blue grass uses lots of banjos, mandolins and fiddles along with 4 and 5 part harmony. My family sings in 4 part harmony because our music background is mostly bluegrass. And both my parents grew up in Baptist churches and hymns are written in 4 and 5 part harmony. So your family actually sings? Pretty awesome. XD

Not professionally or together or anything. But when we're all lined up at church it's 4 part harmony. My parents used to sing specials in church a lot but haven't done that in many, many years.
