Hey guys!
So, since finishing "Court", I have been hungry to write something else. I have so many stories on my computer that I've started but can't seem to get more than three pages into. So, I'm turning to my fellow TLM lovers/writers to ask for some prompts. I think just getting some new ideas might help a bit. The only "prompt for the prompts" I would have would be that it stays strictly TLM and preferably nothing like "What if Ariel and Eric found an alien?"; that's not really my forte. But other than that I would love and encourage anything.
Thanks guys! Hopefully I will stop staring at my empty document page and start writing. That would make me very happy.

Maybe write a story of how Ariel and Eric would meet each other in a way different from the movie?
You could write a story where Ariel and Eric met one time when they were children (Ariel=four years old and Eric=six years old). They had a secret friendship going on until they were discovered. They were forbidden to see each other again. Then eleven years later, Ariel and Eric met again, but did not recognize each other. (Although one wonders why each looks so familiar). Meanwhile, Ursula, plans to kill Triton and his daughters thus she could rule the universe! Can Eric save Ariel and her family?
Something like that! XD

*squee* Paige I'm so excited to see some more stuff from you after the awesomesauce that was Court. Have you tried reading through any of the character discussion threads? Something might pop up there.
Are you looking to do more oneshots or longer stuff atm? Or do you just want any kind of prompts to work from?

Yay, thanks for getting back to me guys! Faya, that's a great idea! I love the movie Splash and thought a really long time ago about doing a story like the beginning of that movie where Ariel and Eric meet as children but I haven't thought about it in years. That might be something I can go back to.
The stories that I'm "working" on are as follows: 1) I'm kind of going back and re-working my first long story, Fathoms Below. Just with what I learned writing Two Weddings and Court, I feel like there was a lot to be fine tuned in Fathoms. But I'd rather write something new before going back to that. 2) There's one about the weeks before Ariel an Eric's wedding and the stresses and excitement of all that. 3) The biggest, scariest one is an attempt at writing a action story with Morgana as a real villain and not just something recycled and tired. It would actually replace Two Weddings at least for me because I was never really happy with it in the first place. I wrote a prologue that I love and have a lot of ideas for it but the thought of writing outside of my comfort zone has paralyzed that one.
That's all that's worth mentioning. I just don't know what to do with anything I've written. And Mare, to answer your question, I really don't know if I want to do long or one shot. I don't know if I want to keep going from right after Court or skip ahead years. So that's why I need prompts because I want to write something but I'm thinking in circles and not coming up with anything I don't already know or feel comfortable with. But going to the character section and doing some reading is a great suggestion.
Thanks again, guys!

Ooooh! All of those sound interesting but I'm particularly fond of the latter two. What's getting you held back on the last one? Just not your usual writing forte? JMO but I'd stick to short form before tackling something that takes a lot of time and investment but of course it's up to you. Trying to think of some little things that haven't been done (or have been once in a blue moon) in this fandom. I rarely see Eric giving Ariel human swimming lessons and with the right conflict to flesh it out it could be interesting to read. The same with sailing, pre/post wedding shenanigans, and anything heavily involving Max. I know he's just a dog (gasp) but I feel like there's an untapped goldmine of he-and-Ariel-getting-into-troubleness. You might want to try some of the more obscure offscreen scenes, maybe fudging canon a little bit if things don't quite suit the story. Extended Tour of the Kingdom? Riding back home post-Kiss the Girl? Walking back immediately after the end of the film? Little things. Hope this helps a bit.

The third story really appeals to me. If you're worried about juxtaposing in the action with the kind of things you've already done I HIGHLY recommend watching some early Buffy The Vampire Slayer and reading the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Even reading and watching some Sailor Moon maybe, for a slightly lighter touch.

Ok, so, you all are awesome. I wrote a new story a couple days ago. It's a one shot and I'm posting it after this. And I'm starting to keep working with some of the things that I had in "storage", trying to think of other ways of telling stories.
Thanks so much for your suggestions and encouragement! I really look forward to writing and having such great people here to read!
