I hate being an artist. I'm trying to be as creative as possible but nobody likes my artwork at all! Today, I made a small owl out of indian clay and did it best to make it look clean and effortable. When I showed it to my mom she thought it was useless all because it is not a "incense burner" or a "candle burner." Um, excuse me? I made it as a toy/cute figurine! Doesn't that count as being useful!?! I hate being an artist! Everything I do is ugly!! What can I do to prove people wrong that I am the best artist ever so they would apologize to me for belittiling me of my past work? P.S. nobody ever comments on my artwork I uploaded on Deviantart. Am I a boring artist? What do artists got that I don't?

I think patience is what's the most important when it comes to anything that you want to do well. The way I see it is that there's always room for improvement in anything and to accept that some people will just not like anything you do. Nothing much you can do to change their minds. If you're most happy with it then that's the important thing. If anything try practicing paying close attention to shapes and structures in things. The more time you spend doing it the more you pick up on little things that help you more later on. I still struggle with it, and need to practice more myself, when I get the time that is lolz.
Anyhoot, I wouldn't get so worked up about it, no use in stressing ^^ I'm sure your owl was cute and if you liked it then that's enough ^^

I know, it is just that it is hard because I can't brainstorm original art ideas as much as I can with Disney fan art ideas. I also felt like I never get enough time to do an art project.

Practice practice practice. And study the basics of your art.
Sometimes it takes awhile for the original side of your creative brain to develop. I wrote fan fiction for years before I dived into original stuff. Now I don't remember the last time I worked on any fan fic. Writing fan fic helped me gain confidence in my writing.
All art is subjective. There will always be people who don't like what you do. When it's your family, though, that's extra hard to take.
