the source was found here>> www.imdb.com/name/nm0942504/news#ni3321995And now my opinions. cause you know? I never have any LOL I really do like the origanal TLM, but I know if they followed HC Andersons' version it'll be one of those things that I'd watch about once a year at the most. Also, I don't care for Joe Wright. He makes things really pretty but he's a bit melodramatic in his directing style for my taste. I wish more people wouldn't turn their noses up at Disney's version as a "kiddie movie" It is a kids movie but there's a LOT more character depth in the players then HC Anderson's. And characters are a BIG thing for me ^^ I am a bit more excited about Hunchback, though. I'm curious how closely they'd want to make it to the book version. I want a tough Esme. Sorry xD The book makes her more of an innocent, naive girl. But I love the sassy, and intelligent freedom fighter. I SO want Morena Baccarin for that part! xD

She would be an excellent Esmerelda!!
A real true live action Mermaid? Sweet!!!! The technology has finally arrived where they can do justice to it. I kind of hope it is melodramatic and bittersweet and follows the real story. It's always struck me as leaning towards melodramatic.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. I certainly don't hate Hunchbcack, but I'm not really all that into it either to be honest.
Not sure how I feel about a live-action TLM either, since from what I recall, the ending in the original fairy tale was a downer. Not a fan of sad stuff, sorry (I can get enough of that in real life). I'd have to wait for the trailers before forming a solid opinion.

whoa they are making live action verisons of HOND and TLM sounds interesting, but I hope there's no sex scenes in either film, since hollywood tends to do that in live-action movies, and I don't like it when they do that.

She would be perfect for that part!! The Disney style one anyway. LOL Yeah the origanal HB was a downer too. And while I love Esme, think Frollo is a great villain, Quasi is darling, and Clopin is amusing- I'm not really a "fan" of the movie like others are. Its a little blah for my taste. Maybe because not very many characters go through changes and its so dark the "funny" moments (if you count the gargoyals) never really lighten it up for me. I'm still interested in what they have in mind for it, though since POTC is mentioned as a point of refence. Somehow I don't see audiences wanting a naive whiney little girl, like Esme was in the book. I still love my Disney mermaid and don't like when pretencious people turn their noses up at it as if it had no real depth. But a lot of people are closed--minded when it comes to TLM anyway

LOL, yeah, Hugo's original book wasn't exactly a pick-me-up either from what I've heard. I really can't say why the Disney movie isn't a favorite: I do like some of the songs and characters, but it's not up there with Aladdin, TLM, etc. for me. Maybe Quasi becomes a pirate? Unfortunately, you're right about pple being biased against Disney TLM.

I'm not sure how I feel about a live action TLM.
To me, it's something that is best suited for animation.
Of course, we'll see what happens when it releases.

Joe Wright, director of Pride and Prejudice, Atonement and The Soloist has plans to adapt The Little Mermaid fairytale into a movie. I bet he'll cast Keira Knightley in it as the Mermaid or the princess that marries the prince in the end!!!!

LOL, when I first read that link I wondered if he was gonna want Kira for the mermaid. I like it better actually if she was the princess if that was the case. I kind of love the idea of Summer Glau in this case also, since she's a great actress, and can show a lot of emotion and that she's got a lot going on up stairs when she's not speaking and has an other worldly innocence to her

She would make an awesome little mermaid! In this case it would be too weird if Simon was the prince though. She can't fall in love with her "brother"!
