I'm only 27, and the Disney that I grew up with bears no resemblance to the Disney of now. When I was little our favorite channel was the Disney Channel and Mama was not afraid to let us watch it. We did Mousercise every morning! And watched the original Mickey Mouse Club, fell in love with Annette and Tommy Kirk and Tim Considine, never missed an episode of Avonlea and every once in awhile we could stay up and watch Zorro on Vault Disney. None of that exists on the Disney Channel anymore, which is really sad. Walt's primary purpose was not to make money. It was to provide wholesome family entertainment that promoted and made learning fun. Disney had a wholesome image and he went out of his way to protect it. He let Annette do the beach movies with Frankie Avalon on one condition: that her swimsuits were always modest and did not show her belly button. In her autobiography Annette talked a lot about how influential Walt was in her life and how he was like another father to her. Pretty much the same with me, minus the Mickey Mouse stuff lol.. I grew up with TLM, Aladdin, BATB, and movies like that in the late 80s early 90s. I'm so glad that I did, so I can see what todays Disney reality is. It's pretty sad when you actually sit down and think about it. To me, it's probably society in general.
