I don't care about Hannah Montana or HSM, but I haven't watched either one, I will say.
But as long as kids keep buying the product, then Disney will keep selling it. Do I think either one as lasting effect as the great aninmated movies? No. But as far as what kids could be into these days with the world the way it is; I have no problem with this being a nice clean thing they can enjoy.
I hope they do sway more towards getting back to what they do best with Repunzel, The Princess and The Frog ::couFrogPrincess!gh:: LOL

I don't think Hannah is going to be around for much longer, considering the fact that she has done questionable things that would not make her a role model.
IMO, that's a good thing, because then maybe Disney can go back on the right track.

As a 26-year-old young woman, I am so sick of hearing about Hannah Montana and High School Musical. Though I secretly harbor the hope that HSM's success will get Disney back into the live-action musical business.
I don't even really know anything about Hannah Montana and have never seen an episode. I grew up with the old Disney Channel that showed all of the old Disney movies and The Mickey Mouse Club and all of that. When it started changing I stopped watching.
I've never gotten into any of the DC original series. They all get on my nerves and they're not anything that I can relate to. I was homeschooled all the way through, so I can't relate to shows set in high schools. That wasn't my reality.

Oh, I completely understand. I remember a time when DC had a lot of great stuff on it, and a lot of cartoons that never really got the respect they deserve, two examples being Recess, and Doug.
Anyway, the problem I have with HSM is not that it's a musical (even though I'm not really a fan of musicals), it's that it's a really dumb idea. I mean, who cares about kids singing in High School? It also gives the impression to kids that High School is exactly like HSM, when it is far, far from that.

Well, I do like musicals and wouldn't mind if Disney did more, provided the right creative team and actors (I want someone who can actually sing and dance rather than a "name")
Oh, and I LOVED the DC cartoons. Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Aladdin. ::sighs:: Those were the days...

Goof Troop was awesome, it was a great way to let Goofy stand out on his own. Once again, another cartoon that never really got respect....or, wait, it did have 3 movies, so maybe I'm wrong there.
Musicals are fine, they just need to be done right, and HSM isn't one of them.

Darkwing Duck! Let's get dangerous..... That was a big favorite of ours and my cousins. And Goof Troop and Tale Spin, Aladdin, Duck Tales. One of my friend's loves Tale Spin so much that I gave her volume 1 for her BD last year.

I did too! At one point I had some voice clips from Darkwing Duck that I used on my computer. One of them was "You're the scum between my toes".

LOL! Oh, this is actually making me sad about how good the DC used to be. And I'll admit I did like Lizzie Maguire and Even Stevens when they were on.
OH! But you know what I thought of, is how much Kaylee is like Gadget XD

You're right!
I am so glad Elphie got you hooked on Firefly. It's an awesome show! I totally agree with her about Simon being my choice for Eric if TLM were ever live-action.

I LOVE it. I'm sad I didn't watch it when it was on, the only thing is it has some BAD fanfiction. Bleh. But some good too.
::fans self:: WHY isn't Sean Maher in more movies?

Maybe because they weren't good lol.. That's life, TV only just gets worse. All of the classic cartoon channels have went down to......well, you know. You're right! I am so glad Elphie got you hooked on Firefly. It's an awesome show! I totally agree with her about Simon being my choice for Eric if TLM were ever live-action. ssshhh, Disney might be listening lol.. While I never saw Firefly, I did watch the movie Serenity, and thought it was a pretty good movie.

In my opinion, HSM is better then Hannah Montana. I think Hannah is fake, why couldn't she just introduce herself as Miley Cyrus when starting her career? And if you go into depth of listening to 'Party in the USA'..she sings things I wouldn't want my daughter (if i had one) listening too. Do you see how she's dressed in the video? Yeah, I won't elaborate on that one. HSM 3 is the ONLY one I can stand.

I pretty much agree with Frida. Also, while I do find all the Hannah Montana teenybopper stuff cheesy and shallow, and the media coverage of Miley Cyrus doesn't flatter her (tho it does give Joel McHale some great material on The Soup XD), what actually disturbs me are all the whackos out there who do things like writing stories where Miley Cyrus and other teen stars are maimed, murdered, etc.. Seriously? It's just not that crucial.
I was watching DWD recently. I forgot how funny it was. XD I love Tail Spin, Hercules, Aladdin, and Gummi Bears as well. Somebody needs to create a Disney Afternoon thread, for serious.

Not someone who can act but can't sing or the other way around! Oh, and I also want a musical that has songs done in broadway style NOT in computer-pop style.

I'm tired of hearing HSM and HM whenever I talk to someone about Disney or whenever I walk into target and see HSM and HM merchandise. It's so stupid!! When my mom was little, when she thinks about her Disney childhood, she remembers Mary Poppins, Sleeping Beauty, The Family Robinson, and Winnie the Pooh. Yes, there was the1950s Mickey Mouse Club show which made some kids famous such as Annette Funicello, Cubby O'Brien, and Lonnie Burr. But none of them tried to steal Mickey Mouse's spotlight, like Miley Cyrus did, and Walt didn't use them as his only moneymaking project. And unlike Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and other disney channel kids, Annette Funicello, Cubby O'Brien, Hayley Mills, and other disney child stars from the 50s-60s had actual talent and star quality! The only disney channel stars that had qaulity were Hilary Duff, Christy Carlson Romona, and Shia Lebeouf.

I'm only 27, and the Disney that I grew up with bears no resemblance to the Disney of now. When I was little our favorite channel was the Disney Channel and Mama was not afraid to let us watch it. We did Mousercise every morning! And watched the original Mickey Mouse Club, fell in love with Annette and Tommy Kirk and Tim Considine, never missed an episode of Avonlea and every once in awhile we could stay up and watch Zorro on Vault Disney.
None of that exists on the Disney Channel anymore, which is really sad. Walt's primary purpose was not to make money. It was to provide wholesome family entertainment that promoted and made learning fun. Disney had a wholesome image and he went out of his way to protect it. He let Annette do the beach movies with Frankie Avalon on one condition: that her swimsuits were always modest and did not show her belly button. In her autobiography Annette talked a lot about how influential Walt was in her life and how he was like another father to her.

Yes, that is true. Walt cared about his star kids enough and made sure they didn't do anything embarrassing in public. You know the 1962 film, Lolita? Hayley Mills was considered for the role of Lolita but luckily, Walt prevented her from being in the movie. He discouraged the casting because he felt that the role of Lolita was not up to his wholesome standard. (Lolita was a pedophile film!)
