There are a lot of places on the internet that discuss different Disney movies not just a couple. Such as IMDB, and Deviant Art. Its true that you'll find more things that bash TLM then BATB in general and it gets pretty out of control how much I've seen people just hate it. Its just the truth of it. There are a lot of people on both sides that take it too far and the ones that do end up putting a bitter taste in one's mouth cause of it. Not all fans are perfect on either side. I should have been more specific rather then saying the whole population had those feelings/traits. I also pointed that out in a later post. ^^
Nikki, just to touch on the 'squish the fish' thing (which is so old anyway) there was more then just people joking around. Harsh words were used to describe certain aspects was jaring at that time. Some people I believe pretended to be more open minded for a while after then that actually were. But that's their issue, I'm choosing not to care ^^
I'm with Nicole. Its not that peope disliking it, or even hating it that bothers me, its the obsessive bashing that's just off putting.
Anyway, all broadway shows are suffering and have been for a long time. People for the most part want profits and don't want things that won't preform like they want them to. Its recession xD

Nicely put, Jess!
Those TvTrope links are always a good laugh with a big nugget of truth hidden in them. It would be a lot of fun to work for them.

I didn't think anyone was trying to argue or be disrespectful just now. Nikki was explaining her view of how she gets along with people at her place, and I was saying just what I've seen at different places that's just pointless flamming. (I admit I get more annoyed with people I find rude, on and off the internet. I know reacting too much to it isn't good either though^^) Which I believe is what Nicole was saying also So yeah, as I said no one on either side is perfect people can take it too far. Debates can be a good way to find common ground and I think that's all we were doing now. Though on the internet when you can't actually hear a person's voice it can be easy to for meanings to be misinterprited xD As we've seen LOL Those TvTrope pages always make me laugh. Is it an actual company like facebook, or something just from fans? Just curious. Anyhoot, unless someone has something thoughtful to add to this discussion we can probably talk more about princesses again LOL xD

It's like a wiki. Pages are added and edited by contributors or 'Tropers'.
And yes, I know no one was trying to be disrespectful, but I thought it was a good idea to post a reminder of just how ridiculous fan arguments can get at their extremes and invite everyone to take a step back and evaluate how things not meant to be hurtful can be misconstrued.
Back to the topic: The older I get, the more I like Cinderella. As a kid it's easy to focus on the shiny shiny ballgown and the cute animal friends, but girl has some sass to her.

I had a fic idea about if the fairy godmama didn't show up what Cindy would do. I hadn't put tons of thought into it yet. But that would have been so traumatizing for anyone. I agree, I love her personality too. Another idea I had after listening to the cellblock tango was doing a fic where Cindy poisoned Lady Tremaine's tea, and Belle being forced into marrying Gaston, then putting his shot gun to good use... if you catch my meaning xD I'd like to explore the darker potenial they have. Someone suggested making it a series about princess serial killers, but then I'd have to think of more victims xD I mean its not hard to picture Esme killing Frollo

I don't know if I could see Cindy doing something so premeditated. The only way I could picture it would be if it were an accident. Say they were at the top of the stairs and Lady T tried to grab the glass slipper out of Cindy's hands, and during the struggle she slipped and fell down the stairs.
As for Belle, again, I don't see her being so violent unless there was some pressing factor, like he was trying to force her to do something and she didn't have a choice. I'm not opposed to dark AUs but I'm not sure I could believe the above ideas as IC unless there were a lot of differences in the worlds they were set in as opposed to what we saw in the movies.

*nods* I get what you're saying. Both ideas are kind of more along the lines of dark comedy but trying to be close to the characters. Which was also why I referenced the cellblock tango, where we just got a little of the girls in that. Its also interesting to me to think about how they would deal having to deal with constant abuse. Both are seemingly flawless girls just have it with the people who keep trying to hurt/abuse them its fun to explore the breaking points. I mean, it'd be IC for Esme to kill Frollo though not a challenge for me and wouldn't be funny at all. Its not like its hard to make Esme mad xD

XD I have to admit, when people do dark Disney fics and art, a number of them tend to be off-putting to me. I mean, Disney's dark enough as it is, IMHO. But there are pple out there who I wouldn't mind seeing handle such ideas, since I know they actually respect the chars and all and wouldn't make the story over the top and tasteless or whatever. Jodi's one of them. =D You would have to set it in an AU. Maybe even in some combined Disney-verse or something. Kinda OT, but I saw a pic on DA where Cindy is spitting in Lady T's tea. Gross but funny. =D

If done correctly, something like that could be interesting, Jodi. Striking the right balance would be very difficult though.
Cinderella, while an iconic film, is still not one that I watch very much. Ever After, on the other hand, I watch all the time. Love that version of the story.

Aww thank you, Nicole ^^
*nods* True, it would be hard to get it down, but that's another thing I like about the concept of it also ^^
Anyhoot. What does everyone think of Rapunzel. I'll admit I wasn't happy at all when Kristin was replaced by Mandy Moore (seriously?) And the fact that Disney without Pixar's CGI movies have not impressed me. Not to mention her *eyes* creep me out. A 3D person looks *strange* with orbs that big! I wish they would stop trying to play to boys with princess stuff. Disney, just except that changing a title is not going to make boy want to see it more or less. I know guys who like TLM, BATB, Aladdin (granted Aladdin is the main character and Beast is in the title as well) But i don't see any of those as "boys" or "girls" movies when you watch them. They weren't one way or the other to me.
But I will say she does look like a fun charrie though, i will say that. So far I think Flynn will be my favorite though. He's got a little bit of an Aladdin vibe to me ^^

I'm having a *very* hard time separating this "version" from the real fairy tale. To me, the real fairy tale is such a beautiful and tragic story and they're ruining it! I am NOT okay with the prince being changed to a thief.
For me, the end of Rapunzel is one of the most beautiful story endings I've ever read. The witch blinds him and he's lost in the woods. After the witch cuts Rapunzel's hair off and casts her out of the tower, she finds the prince. They both believe his blindness is permanent. But when Rapunzel's tears fall into his eyes he can see again.
I probably will not pay money to go see it in theaters. I'd rather spend that money on multiple viewings of Dawn Treader.

Good lord, Rachel, That is amazing! GAH! I didn't know much about the origanal story, but what a great way to make potential of a strong herione (with turning her into a Fiona knock off . So far i still like her but you know what I'm saying lolz). And such a SWEET gesture of love! All right now I'm not liking this idea more xD I get you. I mean we all love captain Jack, but throwing in a anti-hero for the sake of throwing one in is kind of pointless to me. Unless he's actually a prince by brith but doesn't know it for some reason. I still like his character, though so far.

The real fairy tale is an incredible story of sacrificial love that conquers all. It is truly one of the most beautiful things I've ever read. I'll find a link to it and post it in a separate thread here for anyone who wants to read it.
