My favorite disney princesses in order are:
1st-Ariel, The Little Mermaid 2nd-Belle, Beauty & The Beast 3rd-Jasmine, Aladdin 4th-Snow White, Snow White 5th-Cinderella, Cinderella I don't really like Aurora but I don't hate her.
And I think Melody, Kiara, & Pocahontas are actually disney princesses. Some people like to argue that they aren't. What do you think?

I don't know anything Kiara, but I agree about the other two. I think they're more worthy of the princess title than Mulan.

1st: : Ariel, Tiana. 2nd: Belle (honestly, she'd be higher if (A) her fans weren't so annoying and (B) the writers tried to make her a bit more multifaceted), Jasmine (tho some of the time in the TV show her attitude could be kind of "stank" as the kids say) 3rd: Snow White, Aurora, Cindy. They're all kind of flat, but sweet and inoffensive. I do like what they did with Cindy in the third film.
I think Melody, Kiara, and Pocahontas would technically count as princesses even if they're not included in the official princess lineup, since they have the title due to their parentage. Meg, Esme, Kida, Maid Marian, Peg, Lady, Perdita, Duchess, Captain Amelia, Sarabi, Audrey, Mulan, and *takes a deep breath* Bianca are some of my favorite non-princesses.

Nicole, I agree- Belle's fans are UTTERLY annoying to me. They're so hard to talk to, and they swear she's the best thing since sliced bread.
I actually like Cindy better then Belle.
For Cindy, she was really loyal to her father and the crappy family she was delt. A lot woudl call that passive, but I think it would take a lot of strength to deal with those three. Also, what other options did she have? A woman in that era didn't leave her home till she got married. So with no husband or dowery, she could have probably gotten a job as a maid. But who knows if that would have been better. and may very well likely have been worse. Also, she did have a steak of sarcasim to her, that i'm sure she would have picked up. It was also sweet how she had a little family with the mice. Which would have sent most people screaming. But I think it shows she's also more open-minded and excepting.
So at that point she wouldn't have been able to sit around reading and thinking about how no one understood her, being a slave and all xD
I loved Cindy three since I think it showcased a depth and strength to her character ^^

Tell me about it. I mean, I know you shouldn't let other pple influence your attitude towards certain things like characters, but Belle fanatics are just, well... really annoying. I wish they'd realize that their attitudes are kinda pushing some away from both the film and the chars. A lot woudl call that passive, but I think it would take a lot of strength to deal with those three. Also, what other options did she have? A woman in that era didn't leave her home till she got married. So with no husband or dowery, she could have probably gotten a job as a maid. That's a very good point. I need to keep it in mind in case I need to debate with some Cindy-hater one day. I noticed that many pple who rag on Cindy don't even try to take all that into consideration. And I do remember her being slightly snarky with her stepsisters. So at that point she wouldn't have been able to sit around reading and thinking about how no one understood her, being a slave and all xD LOL! I also agree about her relationship with the mice. Like most Disney princesses, she's an animal lover, but seems to particularly like small creatures. This is making me want to re-watch Cinderella. I started watching it on YouTube a while ago, but never finished.

For now, I'm completely over the BatB fandom for that reason. You're right I shouldn't let that influence me, but partly its because I'm disappointed in them as people. Its their arrogance of thinking they're so intellectually/morally superior that they don't have to respect other fandoms And a lot of them have a bitter hatred of TLM. Which, I think is petty.... LOL! Yeah, I like Cindy. I dunno, but something about her being really young and crying in the attic not long after her father died and the step mother revealed herself as a hag, that a few of the mice would have popped out of the woodwork to comfort her. God, I gravitate towards depressing xD

I don't understand the BatB fan hatred of TLM. Without Ariel and Eric, Belle and Beast would never have existed!
I don't really understand the hatred of Cindy and Snow White either. Snow White is a picture of the time she was created in. That was considered normal in the 30's. Why can't they just appreciate Snow White for the groundbreaking film it was? Without Snow White, none of us would know each other and the Disney company probably would not exist.

To me the whole thing is stupid. You can have you fandoms, but it doesn't mean you have to hate or belittle other people's. BTW, I have a comic in mind inspired by this. I know not every BatB fan is a fishy hater, and there are TLM fans that irritate me and I find childish too. But they need to grow up. Stop bashing through fanart/fanfiction about how much better BatB chars are. Also, it contridicts the fandom you claim to love so much One thing I am sad about leaving that "rp" is how Eric is now not going to get to call Gaston a 'trained ape-without the training.' I would have loved that LOL, I agree Rachel, there really is NO point to hating other Disney girls like that. Each one was suited for the story they were trying to tell. The film makers worked hard trying to make each one work. Its immature how people pick on them too

*toasts Frida and Coral* First of all, I like that scene you described with Cindy being comforted by the mice, Frida. I'm a sucker for friendship fics and stuff.
Maybe BATB fans' hate of TLM stems partly from jealousy? I dunno, I'm just tossing something out there. But I do know a lot of BATB fans see Ariel (as well as Cindy, Snow, and Aurora) as some sort of anti-feminist figure. I'm a feminist, but I also understand that these films are a product of their times and that each Disney girl was suited for her film's plot, and it's silly to hate on them for that. Besides, Disney fans should stick together, I think.
Also, if I were you guys, I'd avoid reading the comment section on DeviantART Disney fan art. A majority of the time the threads denigrate into Ariel/Cindy/Aurora/Snow White bashing.
LOL, that is too bad that you won't get to use that line, Frida. And I'd like to see that comic.

Surprise, I agree with Nicole It may be jealously. Either way I just want them to shut up already. Its so dang childish, they just need to get over it. Half of them acted like she tried to destroy the ocean on purpose. Again it ticks me off all the little fawn fests for characters like Gaston, who has no redeeming qualities but his fangirls are so deluded about him and yet they hate Ariel... LOL! That line actually is from my favorite space Doctor, Simon Tam in Firefly, who reminds me a ton of Eric I can't help but love him. I'll let you know about the comic when I'm done though xD

LOL. BTW, how's that comic going, Frida?
Updating my list.
1st: : Ariel, Tiana, Cindy. I really do like her sass factor, and she actually pulls it off without coming across as nasty like a number of sarcastic characters seem to. I'd hang with her if she were a real person!
2nd: Jasmine, Belle, Snow White
3rd: Aurora.

1) Ariel, no surprise.
2) Jasmine-who I actually prefer in the series compared to the movie. While she occasionally had moments of attitude her competence, intelligence, and feelings for her people all had a huuuuuge upswing. Meg of the Non-Princess set. Susan Egan's vocals are win, and I love how layered she is.
3) Mulan-She's not officially of Royal Blood, but she's still awesome and plucky and thinks outside the box. Melody, of Royal Blood, but not part of the franchise goes here. I love her to pieces, but wish she'd been in a better film.
4-Cindy-For all the reasons listed above.
5- Snow White, kind of. My soft spot for her actually comes from two Non-Disney interpretations. The first is "Happily Ever After," a 'sequel' to the story that is pretty laughably bad but turns Snow's friendliness and compassion into real strength. The second is "The Tenth Kingdom" which is a miniseries about a waitress and her father from NYC ending up in a world where all the fairytales we know actually happened two hundred years ago, and things have since gone downhill. It's really really excellent, and the deceased Snow White plays an important role in the story and as inspiration to the main character.
6-Tiana and Belle. They're both characters who, on paper, I should love more than I do, but in both cases their love interest, villain, and supporting cast steal the show.

And now my updated list 1* Ariel- seriously do I need to explain why? 2* Jasmine, Cindy, Melody are tied for me. I love how Jasmine's personality really developed in the show. In the movie it still kind of bugs me after she goes out into the poverty ridden city, almost gets her hand cut off for an accident that she's still mostly pissed about getting married. 0_o LOL! But again, I can understand since she was spoiled and sheltered her entire life. She would have learned a lot from Al since he *did* grow up with nothing. Cindy, yeah, i won't repeat what'salready been written xD Mel should have been in a different movie cause she was DARLING. I love the balence between mom and dad in her looks and personality. She was the most adorable little spaz xD 3* Tiana and Belle. Over all I do like both of them. I like Tiana better since she was more driven then Belle, while still having the same sense of devotion to her family. But she was more obviously flawed. 4* Snow White and Aurora. Snow edges out based on the fact she was willing to get to work and help out, and was just always sweet. I don't think that's a bad trait Aurora I liked, not my favorite but her movie was good, and I really love her hair LOL Non-princess 1* Esmeralda. I've gotten to love her character more since I've been writing her the rp and the msn rps. I'm a sucker for her and a certain rogue navel man's romance ^^. She was tough, but she was a very kind hearted person too. A bit brash and tempermental but it was with a purpose and never because she was a whiner. Also, I love how intelligent she was but it never came off as pretencious or forced to me. 2*Megara and Jane. I LOVE them both it was so hard to pick between them. Meg is who I invsion Ariel as being like if things didn't work out so happily. She was sarcastic and aloof but again. it was *with* a purpose and not out of shear nastyness. I was at an another rp where the rper just made her into the biggest b*tch and I couldn't stand her character for a long time after. I cleansed that bad interpritation with Arielle's writing of her at Fant and watching the movie again on my own ^^. Jane is what I would have liked Belle to be more like. I LOVE her dialoge and accent. She was funny, quirky a little spaztic but she was also really good to her dad and super smart and excepting of Tarzan ^^ 3* Mulan. again I love more geeky characters who are still really strong people. She was funny, smart and again, loved her family. I also really like her and Shang's romance. Its deffinitely one of the more origanal Disney get togethers but it works really well for me ^^

Man, when you narrow it down to Disney Princesses only, it gets tough My ranks are always changing - it depends on my mood and whatever I'm working on at the moment. As it stands now: 1) Aurora (it's that darn fic I'm writing) 2) Belle 3) Ariel Non-Princess: 1) Jane 2) Mary Poppins 3) Megara Now to comment on some stuff that has been said in the past... [Jodi] Hmm. Okay, I've only really been in two BatB communities (first LJ, then B&S), and I really don't get where this assumption comes from that BatB fans hate TLM Really, to me it's like saying that apples hate pears. I mean, sure, they have their differences, but at the end of the day they're all fruit and stick together for that reason About Belle fans in particular... well, I'm ashamed to say I've never met these "arrogant" people you speak of Maybe I've just been spoiled with my group of friends and with B&S in general, but while skimming our forum I see more "anti-Belle" threads than "pro-Belle" threads. And even the pro ones end up criticizing her one way or another. Talk to any active B&Ser and they'll gladly point out to you the reasons why Belle is "not-so-perfect". I even know quite a couple of BatB fans who spend more time criticizing Belle than praising her! Beast is much more praised than Belle, have no doubt about it. When we started our first RP at B&S, no one wanted to play Belle. That alone should tell you a lot But to generalize it that way and say that ALL BatB/Belle fans are arrogant and self-centered... oye. It hurts my feelings. Admittedly there was a time when BatB fans could not stand the sight of TLM, and that was when our highly proclaimed (and very successful) broadway show closed down to give space to the TLM on Broadway. That really shook us and started a "Squish The Fish" movement (no offense ), and I'll admit I was one of those fans that went to NYC to watch the last show, then posed next to a TLM poster with a not-so-friendly gesture (no offense again ). But hey, I still like TLM, I still watch the movie over and over again (I'm listening to the OST right now!), and I'm sure I can say the same for many fans. In fact, I have a friend who was a HUGE BatB on Broadway fan, and now she's writing a TLM fic. How about that, 'ey? But yeah, the "Squish The Fish" movement ended fast (and so did the TLM show... no offense ), and it was just a bunch of very emotional BatB fans trying to make the best out of the situation by having a little fun. This whole "BatB hates TLM" assumption is so very wrong and I hope I can slowly help people realize that generalization is a dangerous thing which often leads to misunderstandings...

I did see some of the "Squish the Fish" stuff and it was slightly hurtful. But I also understood where they were coming from and I for one don't really understand *why* Disney decided they didn't have room in their repertoire for BatB AND Mermaid. They do, IMO. I regret that I never got to see BatB. I've listened to three different versions of it and I love it.
TLM is special to me though because it was the first Princess movie I really latched on to. I don't really know why. Our favorite babysitter gave us a Disney movie for Christmas every year and when TLM came out that's what we got. It was instant love for me. BatB was the first Princess movie I got to see in theaters. Where I lived at the time, we didn't get movies until they'd been out for nearly six months, so we all went to see it for my sister's birthday. That was a rare treat! Taking a family of six to the movies wasn't a cheap thing even in 1993. I'm very excited about it coming back out on DVD next month. It's been way too long since I've seen it!
Unfortunately every fandom has its "crazy" members who like to bash other fandoms. Heck, some of the stuff that goes on in the TLM fandom makes the Squish the Fish stuff look like Miss Manners directed it!

Actually... It was never really a matter of repertoire. Disney wanted to keep BatB because that's where they were getting the money. I mean, 13 years and the shows were still getting sold out? That's got to mean something The problem is that the only theater that fitted the TLM production in terms of size and such was Lunt Fontanne - precisely the theater BatB was using. The Tarzan theater was too small, and the other ones weren't owned by Disney So yeah, it was a risk, and it ended up slapping Disney in the face, but hey... c'est la vie! I couldn't have said it better myself. So it's not a BatB thing. It's a fandom thing.

I see I made the mistake of saying "Belle fans" in my first post, and that was an unintended generalization on my part. I don't think every single BATB fan out there hates TLM, but I have been told anecdotes about a number of them (I can't give an exact number) who don't like the film and relentlessly bash it. I've also personally seen bashing of TLM on the IMDB BATB forum and on DeviantART by BATB fans.
People not liking TLM doesn't bother me; everyone has different tastes and I can totally understand that. It's the bashing that I take issue with. I do agree that there are loud crazy fans on both sides.
