What is everyones favorite movie of 2008? I can be Disney, or non-Disney.
I would have to say 'The Wrestler.'

That's a tough one. I saw so many.
I think it's a tie between The Duchess and Changeling. The costumes in The Duchess were phenomenal, and Changeling just blew me away.

Yes, Keira Knightley. I don't usually care for her, but she was wonderful in this role.

I feel embarassed, I should've known that. Meh, it's been an off day anyway. I was thinking about going to see that movie, seeing as how I'm a fan of 18th Century stuff.
Which reminds me, while it wasn't really a movie, it was a miniseries. The John Adams miniseries with Paul Giamatti was awesome.

That was the BEST historical miniseries I have ever seen. I am so glad it swept the category at the Oscars.
If you enjoy 18th century stuff, The Duchess is a must-see. It's 1780's, and if you enjoy period costume this movie shows off that decade beautifully.

Prince Caspian for me! I didn't see many movies, I admittedly don't. But Narnia's a big draw for me and I saw it two or three times in theaters. Adored it.

Ditto! I'm so excited that Dawn Treader is scheduled to start filming next month. Tentative release date is December 10 next year, which happens to be my BD! That would be an awesome BD present.

Prince Caspian, The Duchess, The Dark Knight, The Other Boleyn Girl(even though it was historically bad, but the costumes were beautiful to look), Mamma Mia

Oh no, it's not French. It's in England. The 1780's were much more sedate compared to the French fashion of the 1770's. At this point France is embroiled in revolution and England took over setting fashion standards for the next 100 years.
The Duchess that Keira Knightley plays was Princess Diana's great-great-great-grandmother. I think. It might be 4 greats.

Ahh, that's right, not good for Marie Antionette lol...which BTW, was not good at all. .......

I thought Marie Antoinette was pretty good. So long as you don't take it seriously and accept the fact that it's based on a less-than-factual biography.

That's not what bothered me, I already knew that going in. What bothered me was that the characters for everyone was totally out of context of what people were like back then. They tried to turn it into some sort of teeny-bopper movie, and I didn't like that.

I didn't see many movies last year, sadly. But, I LOVED Juno (that was 2008, right?) Ellen Page was fantastic in her role, it was really sweet without being mushy, and smart without being pompous. I was actually inspired a little by it I also LOVED TDK. I was so glad Heath won for the Joker.
