Priya Tsetsang was born in Australia and had a fairly normal childhood and upbringing. She attended University and then decided to go to America to find her own place in the world. She had always been very artistic and free thinking. Priya loved to take Polaroids of everything: people, places and animals (especially birds, she thought those were especially beautiful), she never wanted to forget any of these things. She made her way to Los Angeles and began selling her art on the beach to make money since she didn't have a work visa. She loved being out on the beach under the bright sunny skies of California. She made friends with the other artists and venders who often wold their works on the beach. One of her closer friends there was a woman named Pam.

A man named Nolan Kinnard took interest in Priya's artwork and returned several times to buy several other pieces. He was more interested in owning Priya than he was her art however. Nolan commissioned a large piece from her and even held a show to celebrate her finished piece. Priya was grateful for the business, but had no interest in Nolan. It was at this party where she met Luca, an Italian art dealer. They hit it off right away, but what she didn't know was that Luca was actually Victor, and active from the Dollhouse. When she tried to leave with him, he had to leave for a 'treatment' and Nolan refused to let her leave and she fought with him to get out of the door. Nolan is not the type to ever take no for an answer. He had men with guns take her away where he then drugged her to make her crazy. He called 911 and had her admitted to a medical center where she was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and she had auditory hallucinations and paranoid delusions. Nolan became her specialist so he could personally keep giving her the drugs, poisoning her and erasing bits of herself with each dose. Priya was then discovered by the Dollhouse and Topher Brink visited her at the medical center asking her if she wanted to leave. She agreed and was taken to the Dollhouse, where she had her brain wiped of her personality for 5 years with the promise of being better after it was done and she wouldn't even realize that 5 years had past.

In exchange for those five years, she would have her brain imprinted with whatever personality a client wanted, be it a thief or a lover that has died. When these 'actives' don't have a personality, they are in a 'doll state' and act as innocent as children. They are assigned a handler that makes sure they are alright during each one of their engagements. Priya was assigned the name Sierra. Her handler is named Hearn.

Hearn begins to play a 'game' with her in her doll state where he takes her to a back room where there are no cameras. He rapes her four times on different days, causing her to flip out at the touch of another active named Victor. This leads to an investigation looking into if Victor raped her. The truth is found out and Hearn is disposed of and she gets a new handler.

Sierra and Victor begin to sort of group together and form a close bond with each other. It gradually becomes apparent that the two of them are in love with each other even when they are imprinted with another personality.

Nolan is a repeat client of Sierra's, and as she can be programmed however he wants, she can't refuse him. In her doll state, a black blob of paint becomes prevalent in all of her watercolor paintings. Echo takes a painting to Topher and he realizes that it was Nolan that made her crazy and out her in the mental clinic. This is brought to the attention of Adelle Dewitt, the woman who runs the L.A. Dollhouse, and she confronts Nolan, not going to allow him to use Sierra like he's been doing. However, the head of the Dollhouse overrules this and shes ordered to have Sierra be given over to Nolan. Topher imprints Sierra with Priya, her original personality and sends her to Nolan. She admits to loving another man (meaning Victor), even though she can't remember meeting him or anything about him. Nolan and Priya get into a fight and she ends up stabbing him with a knife repeatedly, killing him. Topher and Boyd, the head of security, end up getting rid of Nolan's body. Before she is wiped again, Priya tells Topher that when her five years are up, she doesn't want to remember this.

When Victor's contract is up and his true personality, Anthony Ceccoli, is restored, but is soon taken in by another branch of Rossum that is recruiting previous actives to be a part of a group think super soldier program. Echo and Boyd recruit Sierra to help them rescue Tony and Topher imprints her with true personality as well. They manage to get Tony out and escape, only to be captured and brought back into the Dollhouse on Adelle's orders. The three actives are condemned to be sent to the Attic.

It is said in the Attic that you live your greatest fear and it's like being in your own personal hell. Whereas your mind is actually trapped inside Rossum's mainframe computer and these minds make up the mainframe itself. Priya is making love to Tony when blood drips on her face. Tony is gone and has been replace with the rotting corpse of Nolan who comes to life and goes after her with a knife. Echo, Tony and Dominic find Priya in the Attic along with one of the founders of Rossum. They decide that the way to break out of the Attic is to die in the Attic, causing their bodies to flatline and their minds to disengage in the Attic. Echo goes first and is on the other side to help revive Priya and Tony when they flatline.

Adelle, Boyd, Echo, Topher, Ivy, Paul, Tony and Priya decide that it's time to take Rossum and the Dollhouse down. Echo says it's time to meet her true personality, Caroline. Before they imprint her, Echo urges Tony and Priya to leave so that they can be together. After some hesitation, the two of them leave the Dollhouse.

Unable to stay away, Anthony and Priya end up returning to the Dollhouse, only to find it empty except for dead Rossum hitmen and signs of a fight. They find a note on the chair and Tony volunteers to be imprinted. The personality left behind is Topher's and they discover the secret camera he had hidden, discovering that Boyd is working for Rossum.

Both of them head to Rossum's headquarters in Tuscon, Arizona. They save Echo, who has been hooked up to a machine to drain her spinal fluid to make a vaccine against being imprinted. They rescue Adelle and Topher and help evacuate the building. A member of their team is sacrificed when they blow up the building along with the prototypes of the tech to cause anyone to be remote wiped even without active architecture installed.




Athena

As a young girl, Athena had always loved music. Her father had practically raised her on it, and it didn't take long for the little mermaid to obsess over the beautiful tunes. Whenever she was by herself, she would sing...Athena had enough sense not to sing all the time in front of the merpeople. She didn't think it would be accepted as normal. However, one day, when Athena was sitting up on a little island of rocks in the middle of the blue sea, underneath the blue sky, singing to herself absentmindedly as she weaved a small sack out of kelp, Triton was racing with one of the porpoises. The dolphin leapt out of the air, flying past a startled Athena. Triton attempted to do the same, but he ended up knocking the auburn haired mermaid right off the rock and pushing her into the depths of the water. The kelp that was in her hands ripped and Athena found herself face to face with the most handsome merman she had ever seen.

As he apologized and Athena regained her senses, she soon realized that it was no one other than the prince of Atlantica. She apologized in return and bid him good day, swimming back up to the surface to retrieve the ruined sack. Athena was surprised when Triton broke through the surface with her and offered to help, but took his assistance. The two of them spent the rest of the day together, the clever mermaid occasionally tearing a piece to prolong the time.

Before long, Triton and Athena were spending nearly day together. It was very foolish teenage love, yet they enjoyed every minute of it. They were married early, with Triton proposing to Athena at the same place they met. She had had a hunch for a while, but as she knew she could never love another in this way, Athena accepted immediately. In the next few years they were blessed with seven beautiful daughters, Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Attina, Adella, Alana, and Ariel, each of them having a bit of their mother in them. Ariel, however, looks and love for music matched the queen's the most. They had been so happy...it had almost been like a dream.

History:
Ariel was born to Athena and Triton seventeen years ago. They already had six daughters, so Ariel made number seven. One day, her whole family and many other me people were enjoying the day in a lagoon on the surface. A pirate ship appeared and Ariel and her sisters dove under the waves to safety. Her mother went to retrieve a music box that Triton gave her when the ship ran into her and killed her. It was up to her father to raise his many daughters. After their mothers’ death, he banned music from the kingdom. Triton was always more protective of Ariel. She is his youngest daughter, looked a lot like her mother, and had her gift of song. Ariel however, had other plans. She loved finding new ways to sneak out under her father’s watch and go exploring and adventuring. Her best friend, Flounder, would accompany her on the majority of these escapades.

She would always stand up for creatures of the ocean that had no other place to go. The girls were given a sort of ‘nanny’ to look after them named Marina Del Ray. Ariel felt that there was something missing without music. Everyone seemed to be unhappy, especially the youngest princess. It was then that she discovered the Catfish Club, an underground club where music was being played. Sebastian was the band leader there. Ariel discovered music again and took her sisters there shortly after. They all had a blast and remembered how much they all loved music. It reminded them of their mother, who used to sing to them before she died. Marina discovered the girls’ in the club, and told their father. Triton came and broke up the party, arresting the band and beaching the girls.

Ariel decided to run away, not being able to live in a place where she couldn’t truly be herself and be happy. She broke the band out of their cell and they took off into the outskirts of the city, happy to be able to enjoy music as much as they pleased. She discovered her mothers’ music box and decided to bring it back to her father to remind him of what its like to be happy. Marina tries to get her revenge on Sebastian on their way back. She had been after his job as the adviser to the king. Ariel and her friends outsmarted Marina and her eels, leaving the princess passed out from an injury. Triton comes to the rescue and realizes what he had done and what effect his decree had on the citizen of Atlantica. He allowed music back into the kingdom and made Sebastian the royal composer. In Sebastian’s music class, Ariel was the star student. The crab was often assigned to keep an eye on the princess but was often pulled into her adventures.




Ariel had a fascination with the human world. She would constantly miss events such as rehearsals since she would be out consulting Scuttle the seagull about her latest human find. Scuttle however didn’t always exactly know the actual use for some of these objects though. Ariel however, believed the bird since he knew more about the humans than she did. There was one particular human that caught the young mermaid’s eye. He was a prince named Eric. He went overboard on his ship and Ariel rescued him before falling in love with him. Her father was appalled by the idea and forbid her from even going to the surface at all.

Ariel refused to give up however. It was then that the sea-witch, Ursula, offered to help her. She could be turned into a human for three days if she gave up her voice. She would have to get Eric to fall in love with her and kiss her before the three days were up. She accepted the deal was turned into a human without her voice. On the land, she would be able to be with her prince. They slowly fell in love during those three days. Then Ursula disguised herself as a human named Vanessa and used Ariel’s voice to trick Eric into thinking she was the girl that he had been looking for. With the help of her friends, Ariel trashed the wedding and got her voice back, showing Eric that it was really her that had saved him. Ariel was then turned back into a mermaid and Triton gave his soul to Ursula in exchange of his daughters.’ Ursula took possession of the Trident and the seas. Eric and Ariel came together to defeat the witch and restore the weapon to its rightful owner.

Triton saw how much that his daughter cared about Eric and turned her human. He realized that he couldn’t hold onto his daughter forever. He had to let her grow up. Ariel and Eric were married, thus creating a union between the worlds of the land and the sea. Ariel was very sad that she was leaving her family and friends behind, but was excited to spend her life with Eric. She is now currently living happily in the palace with her husband.

History:

King William had been worried for so long that after so many years, he would not have an heir to the throne. But then come autumn, his wife became with child, and the kingdom rejoiced. Unfortunately, when their child was born, the wife passed away due to postnatal complications. Still, the grieving King William was determined that his little princess's birth would be a joyous occasion. He named her Odette, meaning "Little Wealth", as she was the most precious thing in the world to him. King William invited kings and queens from many kingdoms to see his newborn daughter. The widow Queen Uberta and her toddler son Prince Derek also attended, only having to travel a small distance as they were from the neighboring kingdom. Derek gave the baby a gold locket as a gift, and right after he did so, Queen Uberta and King William had the same idea.

Every summer, they would bring Derek and Odette together in hopes of the two falling in love. If they married, the two kingdoms would join together! The two believed it was the perfect plan, but they were missing one factor. Odette and Derek hated each other. Each summer after another, Odette and Derek would be fighting, whether it be Derek not letting Odette into his treehouse or Odette beating him to a pulp physically...and with a game of cards. Derek and Odette hated spending the entire summer together every year, Derek hating all the nagging and Odette having bruises with their fingerprints as she usually had to be carried out of the carriage to meet Derek.

However, on their tenth summer together, Derek and Odette were pushed into the ballroom. Odette was loathing yet another summer with that conceited prince, yet when she turned around, she saw a different man. One who had grown up. And right then and there, Odette knew, all along, she had loved him. After all, what did she always wear that gold necklace he gave her on her birthday for? The two of them embraced and kissed, and Queen Uberta and King William were overjoyed. Derek called for a wedding, but Odette frowned suddenly, surprised by the sudden orchestra music and people rushing in. She didn't even know if Derek really loved her back, so how could they be engaged? Odette asked right on the spot why Derek loved her, and he replied that she was beautiful. When Odette asked if that was all he loved, he responded with "what else is there?"...and Odette was heartbroken.

Odette had wanted him to love her for just being who she was. She left Derek's castle with her father...only to be attacked by the dark sorcerer, Rothbart, who had long ago been banished from the kingdom for his plots to try to take it over. As the driver of the carriage ran for help, Odette's father was killed in the fight. On Odette, Rothbart cast a spell that would change her into a swan. The only way she could be human again was if she stood in the moon's reflection on the lake. Once the night was over and the moon disappeared, Odette turned back into a swan.

The carriage driver told Derek that Odette and the king had been attacked by a great animal. Derek immediately rushed off to save Odette...but he only found King William, who died in his arms. He told Derek that Odette had been killed too, but Derek did not believe it. He didn't know why he loved Odette, but he did know that he had to save her. He trained and practiced to become strong so he could face the great animal when he found Odette.

Meanwhile, Rothbart tried to make Odette marry him so he could gain control over the kingdom. He asked for her hand every night, promising to change her back to a human forever if she married him, and that he would be a good husband. However, Odette replied she would die before marrying him. She eventually made friends in the forest, Jean-Bob, the French frog who was supposedly a prince before, Speed, the turtle, and Puffin, the bird. They helped Odette bring Derek out to the lake where she transformed in front of him and told him the only way to break the spell was to make a vow of everlasting love to her, and prove to the world that he did love her. Derek promised to do so when she attended the ball the next night.

Unfortunately, Rothbart heard of their plans and locked Odette up. He stated there was no use for the next night was the night of the new moon, where there would be no moon to change her back into a human. Rothbart turned his assistant into a clone of Odette and sent her off to the ball, so Derek would make the vow to the wrong person. Odette was able to escape from the chamber with Jean-Bob, Speed, and Puffin's help, but they were too late. Derek made the vow, just as Rothbart crashed the ball. He changed his assistant back into a hag and stated that now, Odette would die.

Odette could barely fly back to the lake. She crashed onto the riverbank, and in her dying moment, changed back into a human. Derek managed to find her and told her that the vow had been for her. Odette said that she knew, and she closed her eyes. She didn't move anymore.

Rothbart appeared, turning into the great animal. A fight ensued, but eventually, Derek was able to shoot the animal in the heart with his bow and arrow. Rothbart is killed, but Odette still lies cold on the ground. Derek returns to her, sobbing, and admitting that at the ball, he had only said the vow because he wanted to break the spell. But now he knew that he had always loved Odette for her kindness and courage, and not for her beauty. The truth brought Odette back to life, and the two were married soon afterwards. The two kingdoms were joined, and they lived happily ever after.

Anthony Ceccoli was born to a lower-middle class family in Brooklyn New York in 1983. His mother was Albanian-American and his father was Italian-American. He had a normal upbringing. He did about average in school, was good at sports, and made friends easily. After he graduated in 2001 he decided he wanted to enlist in the Army in order to serve his country and make a positive difference in the world. He served three tours of duty in Afghanistan, and was a gifted soldier, but his time in combat left him with severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

He along with several other soldiers with similar conditions were referred to “The Dollhouse” a secret illegal operation run by the Rossum Corporation spanning twenty-two separate “houses” around the world. Subjects agree to spend a five year term as “Actives,” where their own personality will be “wiped” away and stored on a “wedge,” and alternate personas will be “imprinted” into them to fulfill the wishes and desires of a given wealthy “client” for a certain time period in an “engagement.” During non-engagement time the actives remain in a simplistic child-like state and are cared for in “a luxurious spa-like environment.” After the five years are over the original personality is restored and the ex-active is given a heavy cash settlement along with other benefits. In Tony’s case that would include the curing of his PTSD.

Tony, unable to deal with his condition, agreed and was assigned to the LA Dollhouse, run by Adelle DeWitt. His personality was wiped and he was given the moniker “Victor,” from the NATO Phonetic Alphabet.

Victor’s time at the Dollhouse was relatively uneventful until he had to take part in a very unique engagement. Nolan Kinnard, a psychologist whose work was instrumental to the Rosssum Corporation, wanted to use multiple actives to stage a fake art showing for an attractive young artist named Priya Tsetsang. Victor was imprinted as an Italian art dealer and while he fulfilled the engagement parameters he displayed a genuine attraction to and interest in Priya, which she reciprocated, much to Nolan‘s anger.

Nolan later enquired the groundwork for Priya to become an Active, and she was given the codename “Sierra.” Victor and Sierra both became good friends with a fellow active named “Echo.” Victor was assigned a special engagement where-in he was imprinted as “Lubov,” a member of the Russian Mob, in order to steer FBI Agent Paul Ballard, who was looking into the Dollhouse, in the wrong direction.

Meanwhile, Victor’s attraction to Sierra continued even in his “blank-slate” state. A visible manifestation of that reaction to her presence was noticed by the Dollhouse’s programmer, Topher and the doctor, Dr. Saunders. Around the same time Victor began a series of frequent engagements with a client referred to as “Miss Lonelyhearts.” Shortly thereafter Dr. Saunders found evidence that Sierra had been sexually assaulted, and Victor was the prime suspect because of his feelings for her. However, it was later proved that he was not her attacker, and after the incident Sierra and Victor started spending more and more time together.

During an engagement where Victor was imprinted as an NSA operative to deal with the outbreak of an experimental memory drug on a college campus, the drug caused several of the actives to “glitch” and flash to a strong past memory. Victor’s was a traumatic event during Tony’s service in Afghanistan. In the aftermath DeWitt and her team designed a “test” where Victor, Echo, Sierra ant two other dolls were imprinted as themselves minus the memories. Instead of trying to find his own past, he helped Sierra figure out hers, because “he had a more pressing need-to get the girl.”

Victor and Sierra confronted Nolan and later Victor confessed that even in his doll state he cares and worries about her. She replied that she remembers that at night he waits for her, just to make sure she’ll be all right. The two kissed before being returned to the Dollhouse and wiped again. Following this, an engagement with “Miss Lonelyhearts” intersected with the Dollhouse staff’s search for a mole passing information to the NSA, resulting in her deciding to discontinue his services.

A little later Agent Ballard infiltrated the Dollhouse and his confrontation with Boyd, Echo’s handler, caused both men to fall into Victor’s “sleeping pod,” giving him minor cuts and confusing him. Dr. Saunders brought Victor into her office where the rogue doll Alpha had also snuck back into the house. Having cut Dr. Saunders’ face before his previous escape, he did the same to Victor, leaving him temporarily scarred.

Victor’s scars were eventually repaired via plastic surgery and his feelings for Sierra continued to get stronger. One day, , he noticed that Sierra painted a black figure on all of her paintings to represent her sadness even though says she doesn’t like that color. Victor than snuck into the art room and with Echo’s help took all of the black paint and went to empty it out in the shower, believing that if she didn’t have to see the color, she wouldn’t be sad. Sierra found him and they played with the paint until having the black on his face reminded him of camouflage

Unfortunately Nolan, having had his scheme discovered by Adelle, had her superiors force her to send Sierra to him permanently. Unaware of this Victor promised to wait in the exact spot he is standing in for her to return. When she did in fact return, Nolan having been dealt with, they walked off holding hands and went to sleep in the same pod.

When the LA Dollhouse’s leadership came into conflict with the DC branch, Topher imprinted Victor as a back-up of himself (Topher 2.0) to assist in stealing information they needed. Later, during a brief period where Topher was made head of Research and Development , Victor and Sierra were both imprinted as scientists to assist him. After the success of their research, they shared a kiss in their imprinted personas. He was later programmed as a psychiatrist in order to assess her mental state, and as that personality, again indicated attraction to Sierra. Later, in another plot by Alpha, like the other dolls, he was programmed to attack the Dollhouse staff as part of a diversion, and the programming was eventually removed.

Soon after, Miss Lonelyhearts hired Victor for one last engagement, during which he rejected her advances, because he’s “met someone else,” said someone else being the lingering memory of Sierra’s presence. Victor’s contract expired the next day and Tony’s personality was restored to his body. He was approached with an offer to join a Rossum-created group of Super Soldiers that operate as a group mind. He accepted. Echo and Sierra restored to Priya went after him to release him from the group’s control. Priya was able to break through to him and they fought off the other soldiers while Echo infiltrated and shut down the hive mind.

Seemingly because of Echo and Priya’s unauthorized interference, Adelle sent all three dolls into “The Attic,” where a person’s body is preserved and their mind is trapped in a loop of their worst fears and anxieties. Tony’s loop was fighting a mirror of himself in Arabic dress, symbolizing his inner-conflict and PTSD. Echo, joined by another ally, found Tony and Priya, and then the four searched for answers regarding Rossum’s true plans. When they had the information they needed, they freed themselves form the attic by allowing themselves to die in the nightmare world, which was then carried into the real world, and disconnected them from the system so they could be brought back without brain damage. Echo went first, since she could revive on her own, and then Tony, then Priya. The three then met with the Dollhouse staff that had decided to join the fight against Rossum, and prepared to imprint Echo with her original personality so she could identify Rossum’s leader.

As the Dollhouse went into lockdown Echo urged Tony and Priya to get out for the night and just be with each other, also saying that it was all right if they failed to return. However Tony and Priya’s concern for their friends prevented them from doing that, but when they returned to the House they found it empty except for bodies of fallen Rossum soldiers. The only clue was a smiley-face sticker and a wedge left in the imprinting chair. Tony allows himself to be imprinted, and it turns out that Topher left his “2.0” to help. Topher 2.0 in Tony’s body helped Priya realize that the others had gone on to Tucson and that one of their group had betrayed the rest and drugged Echo before they left in order to keep her from revealing the information in Caroline‘s memories.

Topher 2.0 then offered to return Tony’s personality to his body with some “enhancements,” i.e super-soldier combat skills. Priya reluctantly agreed and Tony proved his skills by felling a new group of Rossum thugs without even trying. The pair then traveled to Tuscon where they were just in time to save Echo and help her bring down the co-Founder of Rossum. At that point it seemed as though they had managed to save the world from the horror of mass-imprinting, but the future was still uncertain…






Ursula (TLM, villain)

Dislikes: People more powerful than she is, People overstepping her, Being “second-best”, People foiling her plans, Devilishly good people who get everything they want, People who have good fortune handed to them (like that little tramp and her wretch of a husband)

Though Ursula is cruel and finds pleasure in the misfortunes of others, there’s no doubt she’s a smart woman. She prefers to spend time crafting elaborate, foolproof plans than to go bezerk at the first sign of trouble. She relies on manipulation to get what she wants—giving people a sliver of their dreams and ultimately using them for her own advantage. Her ambition keeps her from stopping until she’s above everybody else, as Ursula always found a sadistic enjoyment in bringing down others so she can be better. Her hunger for power reflects this. She never wanted to control people and keep order as the ruler she never was; she just enjoyed the notion of being the most powerful woman around. When she’s got a taste of that power, she’s no cackling Maleficent either. Ursula enjoys having fun with her villainy and playing with her victims to make them more miserable. She’s confident, sassy and loves who she is, evil and all. But while she smartly toys with her victims, her desire for power can go to her head and when her plans go awry, she goes bezerk and stops thinking clearly until she fails.


Born the middle child to King Poseidon and Amphitrite, Ursula was as normal as her elder brother Triton and her younger sister Morgana. Before her fall she looked like any other mermaid, sporting a head of luscious brown hair and a lavender fin (a form she would later revisit, albeit with legs and a stolen voice). She had a lovely voice—not as beautiful as her niece’s, but far from the one she would later grant herself. She did everything a child should have done: explored beyond where she should have, was curious of everything, and most of all, she loved her family, her siblings especially.

But while she had always admired her brother’s determination to get things right (a perfectionism she shared in some way), King Triton had life handed to him. He had a superb work ethic, for sure, but when did he ever have to use it? Far less than Ursula, who enjoyed crafting her plans to outdo him. Even from a young age, she’d wheedle her way forward in snag-the-urchin and trench-diving—games buried in a labyrinth of rules. She’d often resort to dirty tactics to defeat her superior, Ursula being a rather violent mer-sports player. Triton never admitted to it, how Ursula found her own way to overshadow him, but she won. She always won.

Despite this, it wasn’t until years later until Ursula found something she was truly good at. Though incompetent Morgana could always make Ursula seem bright in comparison, that never quite measured up to the triumph of beating her older brother. He was smarter, more personable, sharper on his fins (all false: Ursula knew better than others), and always the favorite of her family. She wouldn’t let that slide if she could help it, but what was her gift? What could she do to show her family that she could surpass her brother instead of her useless sister?

At thirteen years old, Ursula found her own way in magic.

She had often overheard her father talk with Prince Triton about his trident, the coveted weapon neither he nor Ursula were supposed to touch. Father had always repeated something along the lines of it holding more powerful magic than Prince Triton could have imagined, and that only someone dutiful and responsible should wield that kind of power. That learning to conceal that power was one issue, and another entirely was protecting that power from controlling you. Well, Ursula was responsible enough, even if her father didn’t believe so. She knew enough about magic from clandestine readings and watching her own father’s spell-casting, and had tried a few simple spells herself. Whatever power that trident held, she knew she could handle. And if she couldn’t, then she’d blame the damage on her brother. He deserved it. Knowing how Daddy favored him, he'd likely get off scott-free...

She waited until her father was at home for the night, not on some political trip where he’d take the trident where she couldn’t get at it. She knew where he kept it for the night—on a pedestal by his throne, accessible only to those with royal blood. So when it was dark enough to barely see without an anglerfish, she swam out of her room an towards the palace.

But before she reached the entrance, she saw two guards at the hall. Cursing under her breath, she raced over to them, feigning fright. She told them that she’d seen a shark lurking around her room and she didn't know what to do, so she came here. They raced to the scene before Ursula could breathe a sigh of relief. None of her family would have ever bought THAT. She crept inside before they returned.

When she picked up the trident, held it in her hands like a harpoon, a warmth surged through her. She concentrated and waved the trident, sending small scorching sparks to the floor. She did it again, smiling. She held it like a warrior, stabbing and lunging at imagined enemies, dreaming of what it would be like to triumph with such colossal power. But what more could she do?

The night had just begun and Ursula’s excitement had already boiled over. Concentrate. Concentrate. She raised the trident in the air and waved it across each column, watching as vines of beautiful seaweed spiraled up and blossomed with water lilies. But then with one swish of the trident they all turned to ice.

Warm in her hand, some unfamiliar feeling bubbled within her as the throne room became silent again. She looked down, watched the staff glow in her grip, but before she could do anything else she heard a sound—her father.

She was punished severely for her misdeeds, and from then on Ursula’s relationship with her father never quite recovered. But what had truly ashamed her, what had really scared her, was how that sudden onslaught of power felt wonderful.

The years went by as normally as Ursula could have made it. She and her family were never very close, but Ursula found her own way, ostracized or not. Far from the sight of her father she practiced magic in whatever way she could. There were elementary incantations, but her lack of any magical relics limited her powers. In her young age she didn’t know where to look for further practice, so she gradually explored farther and farther from Atlantica. She fled into caves, shipwrecks, and finally escaped the ocean altogether.

If she couldn’t find her place below the water, then maybe she could find it in the strange world above.

When she garnered enough courage, she found the mouth of a river pouring into the ocean. She worked upriver to see what she could find.

For the most part, she didn’t see much. It was all forest nestled far from a strange palace on the shore. But she smelled something above the water—a smell she would later identify as fire—and continued upriver until she came upon a small clearing with a cabin and a middle-aged woman tending to the fire outside.

Curious, Ursula advanced and observed the human woman. She carefully tended her fire and stirred a bubbling cauldron above it, and when she dropped several foul-smelling ingredients into the mixture, it sputtered and boiled. What was this magic?

Ursula had fled back down the river back night, but stubborn curiosity drew her back, closer and closer every visit. Then one day she was brave enough to approach the human.

In return for rare undersea ingredients, the woman (Vanessa: what a strange name! Ursula didn't know any merpeople like that.) slowly warmed up to Ursula and shared her secrets. Every night she would return to her, learning more and more of the human art of potion craft.

When she returned to the ocean, she took the skills she learned and made them her own, using seawater from faraway regions and ingredients found only in the most dangerous parts of the ocean. But all this she had to keep secret, lest her father find out and take the only thing she had away from her. So on her way to the deepest corners of the sea, she discovered the old skeleton of a leviathan. Perfect, she had thought, and jars of philters in hand, she swam inside.

She found that the skeleton had succumbed to the sea and was caked in overgrown seaweed and barnacles, almost to the point of being impassable. So when she got deeper into the skeleton, she tossed one of her potions on the mass of debris, shattering the bottle and burning the mess away. But before she could settle down, two eels sped out of the crevices in the great bones.

These were Flotsam and Jetsam, she later discovered, two eels that had been feeding on whatever unsuspecting prey swam within the ruins. They admired her power and her ability to take what she had and make the best of it. They had this much in common, for Ursula saw that these two eels were blind. Yet they got along in the world just fine. She liked that.

Ursula continued to return to her lair and bond with the two eels, never once telling her family of her only friends and her exhausting nights mixing new potions. By her early twenties she had so far disconnected from her family that she scarcely ever wondered if they cared for her anymore. They could never hade understood, but it didn’t matter, because she found her own home in the secret lair with the two blind eels. Soon her shelves were full of draughts for every purpose, and her powers could have easily surpassed her spoiled brother Prince Triton, she knew. And she needed to prove it to herself.

So she summoned Flotsam and Jestam to her cauldron, where she had prepared several drops of golden solution. She poured one drop in each of their eyes, saying that it would cure them of their blindness. She waited and it worked, although she must have made a mistake, for one of each of their eyes glowed gold, and when she came close to them, an image from their point of view infiltrated her mind. She’d make the best of that, for sure, and soon conjured a bubble through which she could see through her two companions. She could use that to her advantage…

But her plans were cut short when King Poseidon passed. Prince Triton, heir to the throne, took his place as king along with his new queen, Athena. He received half of the sea and the trident, while Ursula was granted the other half along with a magic nautilus shell necklace. Little did her father know that it was the second-best gift her father could have given her.

The first, of course, was that trident.

At her brother’s coronation, Ursula watched as her inferior King Triton, young and still blinded by his love for Athena, raised up his new trident for the first time and hailed bursts of light down at the spectators in the audience.

King Triton wasn’t concentrating. Ursula sneered; he was practically holding it wrong.

But the audience clapped anyway. They loved him, all of Atlantica, and he didn’t even have to work for it. Ursula would prove them wrong, one way or another. She’d find a way to show them how she, the ostracized little sister, was better than King Triton could ever be. Disgusted, she fled back to her lair to find a way to make them all see.

It would take months, maybe years, he knew, to get her hands on the trident without fail. But she was willing to wait, and she was willing to observe.

At her time in the castle she would always watch King Triton wield his trident. She studied his movements, what spells he casted, and how.

No, you’re not concentrating. Hold it more firmly!

She would never call him brother again.

Before long, a few citizens had caught on to Ursula’s less-than-conventional talents at potion-making. Many avoided her due to her ill-favor in the eyes of the king, but one soon approached her.

They talked for a while and soon Ursula led him into her lair. He mentioned something of a healing draught, said his mother was sick and had nowhere else to go. Normally, Ursula would not have obliged, as too much attention would expose her plans. But she needed rare ingredients for the spells to defeat her brother, and perhaps this man could help her retrieve them. So in return for a healing potion, Ursula asked for the skull of a narwhal at the bottom of the ocean. The man accepted, and came back disheveled, but with the payment he promised.

Before he gave her the payment, he questioned why she needed it. She lied and told him it was to make the ption more powerful. He didn’t believe her. Ursula told him to shut his mouth for his own good, but he didn’t listen. Finally he’d accused what she feared, that she was using the ingredients to overthrow her brother. She couldn’t have a muckraker like him floating around, so before he could escape she hurled a spell from her cauldron and he shrunk into a polyp at the floor.

Ursula snarled and laughed at him. To say this felt wonderful was the biggest understatement of the century.

It didn’t take long until the halls fo her lair were full of writhing polyps, and her shelves full of recipes, ingredients, and the most powerful potions Ursula (or any sea-witch) had ever made. And still she watched her brother, studying how he used the coveted weapon and how she would surpass him. His skill grew, but she always had some flaw she could readily point out.

The day came quickly when she would be able to get the better of him. She gathered her most potent draughts and left for the castle late one night. But she turned back and took one more--a vile potion, one she had made with the body of an octopus and blood of a terminally-ill barracuda. With something like that, she'd no longer be the meek little sister of King Triton, but a monster feared by all the ocean. They'd bow to her then...

As she’d expected, he was followed. It was Morgana, whom Ursula had known would want to tag along. Well, she wasn’t about to let pass this opportunity, so she took out one of her potions, the one with an octopus tentacle floating in a muddy green liquid.

She tempted Morgana with the dreams she had never come close to, images of power and infamy alongside her sister. She said that Morgana too could rise above her spoiled brother. And if she drank the potion with Ursula, no one would ever again question her. Everyone would know who she was and fear her for that.

Predictable as always, Morgana took the bargain. Ursula poured some of the potion in an empty flask and they drank in unison, sprouting tentacles and ghoulish skin. Morgana looked down at her new form in shame, but Ursula could only laugh. No one would again know her as the outcasted mermaid, but instead the monster who had defied her impotent brother. She g sped to the throne room.

Getting rid of the guards was as easy as before; she ordered Morgana to keep watch while she grabbed the trident. At last, after her flawless scheming, she could finally—

Ursula whirled around as Athena yelled ”Stop!”

Cornered, Ursula managed to fight Athena off with her potions and the guards shortly after, but the sudden mishap sent her mind asunder and she put her best draughts to poor use. But even as her brother, furious, looked her in the eyes and banished her to the farthest reaches of the sea, she knew she would better him. One way or another, no matter how hard she had to fight. She no longer cared about how many she hurt along the way—this was a matter between her and King Triton. Who stood in the crossfire, Ursula would destroy.

After her banishment, Ursula took to potion-making in secrecy, although she did cause the occasional problem in Atlantica under her brother’s reign. She studied King Triton’s family as they grew up. She paid close attention to his seven daughters, interested most in the youngest brat as she approached her teen years. Why this was, Ursula couldn’t quite say, only that her thirst for trouble and desperate search for an unnamable something reminded her much of herself. They were very alike, although separated by a good nature and questionable morals.

Ursula had thought about getting to Triton through his rebellious daughter, but her plans came in motion when Ariel fell into her clutches. For once, the good fortune came to Ursula instead of to her superiors.

After her father had destroyed everything she held dear, where else was Ariel to go? She was lost, but ready to find where she belonged. Ursula knew that feeling; she knew exactly how to exploit this poor girl.

She offered her three days of humanity, extended to a lifetime if the prince she saved could kiss her out of true love. All this with her voice as payment. Ariel took the offer and Ursula, with the princess’ voice imprisoned in the magic nautilus shell, gave her legs and sent her up to the surface.

But two days passed and the little tramp had already rip-tided the prince’s hormones! She’d have to intervene on the girl and the poor fool before things got too far out of her tentacles. She sent Flotsam and Jetsam to tip them off their rowboat in a secluded lagoon, and as an extra precaution, she retrieved a potion she’d been saving for a long time. She returned to her original maiden form, gave herself legs and a new name: Vanessa.

The prince was moping about outside by the time Vanessa reached the beach, and she sang to him with her stolen voice. He instantly fell under her spell. He was difficult to keep brainwashed at first—several times he resisted and almost fought back—until Vanessa realized the voice was what was truly seducing him. So she hummed in his ear the tune he had played on his fife, the song Ariel sang that Ursula had overheard through Flotsam and Jetsam. That put him out. He was at her mercy; whatever she thought, Eric said, and whatever she suggested, Eric did. And soon she had convinced the whole kingdom that they were to be married at sunset of Ariel’s third day of humanity. She made sure to get the news to Ariel, and a sickening triumph grew in her when she saw Ariel run outside sobbing. Under her sadistic gratification, Ariel’s heartbreak conjured up her own unhappy memories.

This made her smile grow wider, and the bloodlust bubbled inside her.

On the wedding barge, all Vanessa had to do was wait things out until sunset, when Ariel turned back into a mermaid. Then Ursula could do whatever she wanted, including bait Triton with a polypified Ariel and killing off the oaf prince. Or, better yet, keep him and destroy him in front of his love, bit by bit…

But she was thwarted by packs of sea animals, unlikely crashers of the wedding. And before Ursula could get rid of all the uninvited guests, Ariel came aboard. And that nasty son of a dogfish—Max bit her right in the behind! The nautilus shell toppled from her neck to the ground before its rightful owner, where it shattered and Ariel’s voice returned to her. This broke Eric’s spell, and the two nearly kissed before the sun fell and Ariel was Ursula’s again, back in her mermaid form.

Ursula transformed back into her sea-witch form and wrenched Ariel back under the ocean, but King Triton stopped her. But being the girl with an eye for a bargain, she would free Ariel on the condition that Triton took her place. He obliged, and Ursula finally, after all those years, obtained what she truly wanted. She put the crown on her head and held the trident in her hands. But Ariel and that prince just didn’t know when to quit, and ended up making her misfire the trident an hit her only companions instead.

She grew to a leviathan size and sent storms raging over all the oceans. The two still refused to surrender (or even die, as she’d like to have it). Ursula managed to imprison Ariel in a whirlpool, but as Ursula tried to get rid of her, the prince had commandeered his sunken vessel from the whirlpool. She turned and its bowsprit speared her sending her tumbling down into the depths of the ocean.

Melody Di Costa was born to her loving parents on a beautiful day. On a celebration of her birthday at sea on a boat, Morgana attacked the baby Melody, threatening to feed her to the sharks if King Triton doesn't give her his trident. Luckily, Ariel grabbed Eric's sword and cut the hatch, knocking out the sea witch while Eric saved Melody. Morgana fled, vowing to avenge Ursula and get Melody. This caused Ariel to decide the sea was too dangerous for her daughter and choose to hide her past as a mermaid from Melody. A wall was built up in front of the ocean.

The rule of not being able to go into sea didn't stop the young girl from swimming underneath the wall by removing a metal bar regularly. Melody felt impossibly different and like the laughing stock of Italy. The only ones she could open up to where animals. Melody would collect seashells and other treasures with the help of the ocean animals who she could even talk to, which made normal children judge the little princess. On the day of her party, twelve year old Melody was exploring the sea again. Before she left, she found a strange necklace that was covered with sand and shaped like a seashell.

At the party, Melody's dance with a boy ended up as a disaster when Sebastian came into the picture. When Melody asked if her crab friend was all right, she was ridiculed for talking to a crab, and she ran to her bedroom sobbing with humiliation. As Melody lay on her bed, she clutched the necklace she had found while Ariel tried to soothe her daughter. When Melody cleaned it a bit, she saw that her name was written on top of it. Melody opened it, and it turned out to be a necklace that King Triton had given his granddaughter on that celebration day. A beautiful orb would bubble out, with a view of Atlantica and its merpeople. Melody was fascinated with it, but Ariel realized that the fact that her daughter had found the necklace meant she had snuck out to the sea. The two got into an argument which resulted with Melody running away.

Melody then meets Morgana, who tricks the girl into thinking she understands her and tells her of her actual blood of a mermaid. She changes Melody into a mermaid, and the child sees a world that she has always wanted. She begs Morgana to make the transformation permanent, which the sea witch replies is only possible if she had "her" trident back. Melody promises to retrieve it for Morgana, oblivious to the fact that she can get it because she is related to the sea king.

While Melody looked for the trident, she met Tip the penguin and Dash the walrus who decide to help the young girl on her adventure. They manage to sneak into the palace and get the trident, just as Ariel, now a mermaid, appears. Despite her mother's efforts, Morgana managed to coax Melody to give her the trident by using her anger against all Ariel's secrets. Both Ariel and Melody get trapped. Melody nearly drowns as she slowly turns back into a mermaid, but Tip and Dash trick Morgana's shark into breaking the ice cell and freeing Melody.

Morgana was ecstatic over her reign, but the freed Melody managed to get the trident back and return it to her grandfather. Morgana was then encased in ice and sank to the bottom of the sea. King Triton gave Melody the choice to be mermaid forever, but in her heart she felt as if, in the end, she truly would be hopeless if she didn't give being who she was born as one more chance. The wall was broken instead, and while Melody was happy to be given freedom, nowadays she wonders if she really made the right choice. She still can't fit in with the others as she would like to, but Melody tries to please her parents.

Tip and Dash -- Film/Series: The Little Mermaid II: Return To The Sea

Tip the walrus and Dash the penguin have been best buds as far as back as they can remember. From a young age they aspired to be heroes and earn respect from the other Arctic residents. Dash, who was something of a misfit among his walrus herd for being the sort to shrink away from a fight or action, always made time to visit his fellow oddball’s penguin colony.

While trying to rescue a baby penguin from a shark, the pair left chaos in their wake and were scolded by the other penguins as a result. As they slunk off with their figurative tails between their legs, they encountered Princess Melody, the daughter of Eric and Ariel. The young girl was trying to find the way to Atlantica. The pair decided to lead her there (somewhat grudgingly in Tip’s case), and bonded as they did. They helped her steal King Triton’s trident.

As they were swimming back to Morgana’s glacier hideout, the walrus and penguin became frightened when they saw what appeared to be a shark’s fin slicing through the water and fled (in actuality, it was Morgana’s shark lackey Undertow in his cursed form). Disgusted by their actions, the duo finally decided they would no longer run from danger and returned to look for Melody. They ran into Undertow, returned to his true intimidating form by Morgana’s use of the purloined trident, and the ensuing battle (if you can call it that; really, it was more like Dash attempting to restrain Undertow and Tip trying to avoid becoming his dinner!) freed Melody and Flounder from Morgana’s icy prison.

The little group joined Eric, Max, Scuttle, Sebastian, and Triton in a battle against Morgan and her minions, but were no match for the sea witch herself, as she was still wielding Triton’s mighty trident. In the end, thanks to Melody, Morgana was defeated. Tip and Dash celebrated with Melody, her family, and friends back at Eric and Ariel’s castle. They love to play and explore with Melody and company.

History: *Antoine was originally born in the country of Mercia to Armand and Belle Depardieu. The Depardieus eventually packed up and moved to Mobotropolis when Armand accepted a position as a general in the cabinet of King Maximilian Acorn.

At the age of seven, Antoine was sent to a military academy in the Delmont province in order to train as a knight. Unfortunately, neither he nor the rest of the students in his age range there were to able complete their training, as Robotnik, formerly Julian Kintobar, King Max’s Minister of War, launched a coup against the royal family. Robotnik’s deranged aim was to turn Mobius’ inhabitants into robotic brainwashed slaves at his disposal through a process called roboticization. And he succeeded, turning 80% of Mobotropolis’ populous into Robians, conquering much of the rest of Mobius, and imprisoning the king into a strange dimension called the Zone Of Silence.

Antoine was hustled back to the Great Continent for his own safety and into the hidden sanctuary of Knothole Village, where he became acquainted with the other youngsters living there, including Princess Sally Acorn, King Max’s daughter, Sonic Hedgehog, Rotor Tusker, and Miles “Tails” Prower. As they grew older, the teens formed a rebel group to battle against the tyranny of Robotnik called the Knothole Freedom Fights.

Antoine’s life dream is to become a knight and a great warrior like his father, who served faithfully under the royal family before being robotized. Antoine developed a crush on Princess Sally, and often competed with Sonic for her affections. Due to having spent a good part of his youth around French-speakers, Antoine tends to mangle the English language a bit.

During the series, Antoine would have several misadventures, including one where he was captured when he went into Robotropolis to prove himself to Sally, only having to be rescued in the end by Sonic. in spite of his cowardly nature, it should be noted that he never actually did declined go on a mission with his fellow Freedom Fighters, so perhaps this wannabe hero isn’t as chicken as the others think him to be?
