I've been listening to the TLM Isolated Score on YouTube. It's *divine*! I'll agree with Alan Menken that it's a busy score, but...but...-collapses in a puddle of drool-
Do you guys have favorite non-lyrical moments in this movie? I simply adore Flotsam and Jetsam's theme(s), and I get chills with the music during, "If you want to cross the bridge, my sweet, you've got to pay the toll..."
The whole instrumental Poor Unfortunate Souls just gets me!
Delicious, just like our favorite sea-witch. Especially mid-way through the song. I encourage you all to listen to the score just as Ariel takes off with Flotsam and Jetsam, but that's in a different YouTube clip. (:
I also enjoy the score for Vanessa on the beach. It's eerily dreamy.

I like the tour of the kingdom. So much so that it was in my reception music!

Hehe, really? Did anyone find it familiar or was it just you?
I remember I was on the way home from a college visit and I was listening my iPod, but over my own music I heard some faint, but familiar chords. Tour of the kingdom, I soon recognized. I couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from, but I looked around and there was a van with a TV inside. I literally exclaimed: "They're watching Little Mermaid in the car next to us!" (and thought: Can I ride with them for a while?) XD
It turns out my mom was just playing our tape of the soundtrack, so I was a little embarrassed. Needless to say, my mother knows how obsessed I am with TLM. I think she did that on purpose.
But c'mon, I can't be the only one that hears TLM-related music/dialogue and looks.

I don't even remember if the playlist got that far. The list was over 3 hours long, and the reception only lasted about 2 and a half. A couple of my friends would have recognized it but most people would have been clueless.

I love the whole score, so it's really really hard to narrow it down. I love Fireworks, and Jig especially. My favorite part is when Eric starts playing on his fife. But my favorite instrumentals have to be "The Storm" and "Eric to the Rescue". They're really powerful and chilling almost. "The Storm" I think is my absolute favorite. And.."Tour of the Kingdom" is really awesome too. My favorite part of that is when Eric and Ariel start dancing and the trumpets start playing. "Happy Ending" is another one of my favorites too.

Melissa, I think you just named 90% of the soundtrack! Though I'm sure we all agree. "Flotsam and Jetsam" always sang (no pun intended, I guess) out to me. You'd think something more sinister would be applied to those baddies, but Alan Menken does an awesome job with themes for each character while keeping the uppity feel of the Mer-niverse.
So deliciously creepy. I absolutely love this bit of score and wish it was on the soundtrack.
