I saw it at midnight too! The sexual tension was really over-the-top at times (coughcoughGinnyWeasleycough) but the film completely exceeded my expectations.
And Tom Riddle was the cutest little munchkin I've ever seen. I want to be his mommy. Those parts sucked in the book, but they pulled them off really well in the movie.
I can't believe how hysterical the movie was in the middle--it was still dramatic in all the right places, though. Props to the new director.

OMG You guys have got to be kidding that was the WORST HP Movie ever! They cut out over half the book! I was looking really forward to seeing all about Tom Riddle and his mother and the memories of her. Then they dont even mention her I was wayyyyyyyyyy dissapointed!

Ehh. I kept up with the news so I knew a bunch of memories would be cut. Also, I REALLY didn't like the backstory Rowling came up for Merope (Voldie's Mom) anyway.

To each their own. I can understand people not being into the books/films.
I think for me it was just the cool turvy-topsyness of the world the stories were set in, characters that I found memorable and interesting, and epic good versus evil battles.
Also as far as the films go, I think they renage from okay (POA) to amazing (OOP and HBP), bu they're also pretty much British Character Actor buffetts. HBP had Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Jim Broadbent, and Helena Bonham Carter. Definitely worth the price of admission as far as I'm concerned.

Potter got me when I was young and immune to literary pickiness! But Rowling's grown as a writer and as much as I disliked the epilogue (not so much as some people, but meh) I got completely attached to her characters.

So i just saw HBP for teh fourth time in theaters and I'm still not sick of it yet, which is unusual for me. Normally after I see a film once, maybe twice, i'm content to wait for the home release. Ahh well.

One of my friends has seen it for five as of the morning of July 27th. XD Only seen it once myself.
Have your favorite parts changed at all now that you've seen it many times?

My favorite parts are still my favorites, (Harry on the Felix postion for example, or any scene with Luna or Snape) though some scenes that were a little slow for em after the first watvh do have mentally reaching for a fast-forward button.

Does the over-the-top Harry/Ginny and overall shippiness get old? I haven't seen it since the midnight showing and I'm a little worried about that.

Not. I laugh at the silly-akward H/G, Lav and "Won-Won" still amuse me greatly, and so does Cormac and finger-licking.

-snickers- The finger-licking got a huge laugh in the midnight show. Nobody knew how to react during the shoe-tying scene, and I heard a lot of complaints on my way out.

I want to see it even though I'm not as obsessed with HP as I was a few years ago. I'll probably wait for the home release, though.

I haven't seen the film, but I read the books. Characters are great but the story started to go downhill in book seven. Everybody was acting like a jerk in the book and the epilogue was dumb, too. Even though it was nice to see Harry/Ginny's children and Ron/Hermione's children, I felt like it was the worst epilogue she came up with. When Voldermort dies, I expect the wizarding world to throw a party-not go ho de dum and sent thier kids to hogwarts-that's boooooring! I also find the romance between some Harry potter couples to be either dull or nonlogical. I don't like how every character ends up with someone they either dislike (Hermione/Ron) or never interacted with (Neville/Hannah Abbot) (Harry/Ginny) (Luna/random muggle). J.K. Rowling said that she planned on having her characters not end up with the person they had thier first kiss with. I'm fine with one or two characters doing that-but the whole cast!? Seriously, Rowling? You made everybody sound like a playboy or a flirt!
