Since TLM has been on stage since 2007 and premiered on Broadway in 2008, it's still new and I don't see it on musictheatreinternational's list. I would like to produce and perform it on my hometown someday now that High School Musical and Hairspray has been performed in Bellas Artes. Mostly they translate the shows in Spanish where I live except for HSM's songs.

It probably won't be licensed for a while. Hairspray closed a few months ago and HSM was always just the touring cast and local productions. I believe most shows aren't licensed for community theatre until years into their run or after they close.
You'll probably be able to see a Disney-produced tour cast or sit down production in your area before you'd be able to actually get the rights to perform it yourself.

I think it took about 8 years for the rights to Beauty and the Beast to be released. One of the high schools here has done it twice, and their first performance was one of the first after the rights were released.
I remember seeing an article when the HSM musical was being put together that said they'd released performance rights from the get-go since it was never going to be on Broadway.

I'm like you, I hope the rights are released...but some shows never have that happen. Specially Disney ones. Beauty and Aida are the only two that were on broadway that can be performed on community theatre stages. Lion King, Poppins and Tarzan never were. So...either they'll one day allow it (faaaaaar from now), or they'll deem that students could never pull it off and will never sell the rights to MTI.

Well, one girl who was new to our Lyric Theater group said she played Jane in a high school production of Tarzan(with the Phil Collins songs for real) I don't know how it got allowed and I don't see it on the licensing lists. O.O I'm like you too, I want to play Ariel(but even though I can pull off the voice, I 'm not sure if I'm physically enough for the role. I'm pale, brownhaired and brown-eyed and not skinny(just my face, but the rest is plus sized but not morbidly)Corseted dresses only slim me down(Playing Belle would be ideal if Santa Bernardita wouldn't have shown it already in my home 2 X-mases ago. The Belle they had was older than 30 (phew) That's why I'm on a permanent diet as I struggle with my studies.
