The new ones:
The World Above: It's short but still a beautiful intro for Ariel.
I Want the Good Times Back: Well I thought "Wasting Away" was going to be Ursula's first song but this one is kinda cheeky and on the style of Liza Minelli's
Her Voice: I loved Eric's character more with this song.
Sweet Child: It's creepy and alluring.
Posituvity: I get loads of laughs during that song when Ariel and the gulls tapdance
Beyond my Wildest Dreams: It's sweet but fast to sing it almost reminds me of Sondheim's.
If Only: It would have been good for the movie.

Not too fond of Positoovity, but I like it better than John Tracey Eagan's Les Poissons.
If Only is favorite, then She's In Love, I Want The Good Times Back, and then Beyond My Wildest Dreams.
I adore the way Ursula played out as a 20's and 30's vamp. It gave such an old-fashioned feel to the show that I really enjoyed.
And Sweet Child is just perfectly creepy.

"She's In Love" is one of my top ones. But I also like "Beyond My Wildest Dreams", "If Only", and the broadway version of "Part Of Your World." Also like "I Want The Good Times Back" and "One Step Closer" <3 Its all great. The only songs I skip regularly are Les Poissons and the gull songs.

Too true, Coral. I loved what Sherie brought to Ursula and how she delivered her lines.I love her confrontation with Triton in the reprise of I Want The Good Times Back and how she stays so unmoved by him knowing she has the upperhand once again.
"Your dughter signed a contract...even drewww a little heart above the 'i'...is it binding? goodness, yes; UNBREAKABLE..unless...there is..a little somthin'..we could tryyy...(you can hear that wicked grin like a cat trapping a mouse in it's pawsXD)"
If Only is amazing and Beyond My Wildest Dreams is really sweet. I love Titus Burgess's voice in Kiss The Girl, too. Anyone else wish The World Above was longer? It was a nice little intro for her in the show but the potential could have backed a whole song.

"She's in Love" is my ringtone.
I will be the lone admirer of "Positoovity" but I think I like it because the orchestration is so good for tap and as a dancer, I like that about it.
"One Step Closer" is just wonderful. I wish that was in the movie actually.
And the Finale is just gorgeous! I love the lyrics, even though, I like the arrangement of the original finale from the movie even better.

I'm not a huge fan of the words of Positoovity, but I too love that it's a huge tap number! More shows need tap numbers again. It's sorely lacking on Broadway right now.

"She's In Love" is ridiculously catchy, and I'll end up humming it randomly and people will look at me like I'm crazy ( Curse you, Menken! XD ). "The World Above" and "Beyond My Wildest Dreams" are both awesome. I really like "I Want the Good Times Back", and I'll admit that I generally prefer Sherie's version better than Faith Prince, who was very good as well. I like "Positoovity" too, because of the tap dancing as well and I think it's a pretty good song. I always find it hilarious how one minute Ariel can't walk and the next minute she's tap dancing with the best of them XD. "Her Voice" is simply amazing and so is "If Only".

Mmm. My favorite song? I don't know. It's so hard to pick between all of them! My favorite at the moment is "The World Above" reprise, just because of how Ariel says "It doesn't matter!". My fragile little heart takes a hit every time. XP
If Only, Her Voice, Poor Unfortunate Souls, Kiss The Girl, the finale, and a buttload of other songs come next. I love them all and I can't pick! The only one I routinely skip is Positoovity, but I don't hate the song. I really wish they'd included some of the extra lyrics, though. Ursula's little reprise of "Her Voice" gives me chills.

Yeah, I hate how they took some of the stuff out at the Denver try-outs. I know it was for time and such, but I love Eric's little rendition of "The World Above" during Fathoms Below. Non-stop swooning on my part XD.

ugh that's too difficult to choose.  But I gotta go with Beyond My Wildest Dreams and If Only (Quartet)! Beyond was just totally adorable and I love how the melody (as well as One Step Closer) can be found in the movie. (some other songs probably be found too XD i just can't remember right now)! And If Only is SO TOTALLY SWEET AHHH<3333 ;__; One Step Closer is my number three. cause eric's tight pants the tune is just beautiful and the concept is wonderful. |
