All right, I know Jess has seen the early pilot for this show too. I can tell you right now that I LOVE it! The cast is so awesome. my fave are; Jack Davenport (well duh!), Angelica Huston, Debra Messing, Brian James Darcy and Megan Hilty and the writing is really good. Here's the website and the ad for it. There's also some PG-13ish content to follow.... www.nbc.com/smash/You can also download the episode for free on itunes and Amazon! I will say what I ironically do not like about this show so far are the songs and the musical. Both of the girls ROCK when it comes to singing and performing but I really hated the baseball song. I was actually embaressed for all involved..... And I think their musical is kind of a weak concept and it just doesn't seem like anything new or interesting, which surprises me for how talented all these people are supposed to be. I may be giving a way too early assessment on that. I just wish if they were going to do a musical inspired by Marylin Monroe it would be like 'Some Like It Hot' which could be pretty damn awesome in my opinion. But maybe they couldn't get anything like that because of copy rights? Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I liked the pilot a lot. I preferred the musical songs to the pop stuff, and I thought the ending song was good. I'm totally on Team Ivy though. Partly because I've met Megan Hility (at the stage door for Wicked) and she was cool...Which also makes me two degrees from Jack Davenport! Whoo!

Yes that is, Melissa I also am on team Ivy, I feel pretty 'meh' about Karen, she's just not interesting to me at this point, and don't think that will change. I wish the show was more focused on Ivy instead, or at least a lot more balanced with the character coverage with those two and not favored one more then the other. And I met Jodi Benson, who was in Enchanted with Amy Adams, who was in The Wedding Date with Jack Davenport. So I'm three degrees! LOL

Cool ^^ I read a review of it in the paper today and I'm totally going to watch the pilot--I'll probably end up DVRing it though since Castle comes on at the same time.

SPOILERS from tonight! I don't like Karen, she's so uninteresting and forced for you to like her its not even funny. I know, I know, its still early but they want you to side with her when she couldn't even text was just crap. How is she supposed to handle a huge part like that one then? IVY! I am happy she got the part, even if she is going to be jerked around but I do feel more for her character and think Derek IS taking advantage of her mental state. See how she seemed all tense at the word "crazy"? BTW, I'm in love with Derek and Eileen's relationship <3333. I actually ship them the most

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem. In the promo for next week it looks like Julia IS going to cheat on her husband. Okay, bad enough we have time wasted on her boring story line but now this makes me really not like her, when I wasn't nuts about her to begin with.
Also Tom confronts Derek about Derek's father being gay. I did NOT see that coming! But we're still early in so I shouldn't be that shocked.

OKay, the third episode....... Yikes. It was not good.
I think I've pinpointed what is wrong with this show so far;
Karen/Katherine McPhee. Karen in the entire 3 episodes we've had a chance to get to know this girl there's really nothing interesting or compelling about her. She's pretty bland, a tad self-entiled and it doesn't help you have so many character talking about how special she is.... its telling not showing, huge pet peeve of mine. Katherine McPhee has a really lovely voice and I'm sure she would be great in certain roles, like Cosette in Les Mis for example. Its partly the marketing's fault for building this up as basically Jesus coming back in the form of a ex-American Idol contestant. Who could follow that act? Too much pressure on that girl especially since Megan Hilty has a stronger and more vesitile voice (my opinion). The show really should be written more as a ensamble drama, and marketed that way, since there's a lot of other interesting characters. I would like to get to know them.
TWO: The show is not funny. I know it wants to not be a copy cat of Glee, and its certainly not, but with as many funny actors as they have for this you would think they would actually.... let them be funny. So far the show takes itself TOO seriously, which is kind of dumb considering how many stupid and silly things have happened. Oh,and I HATE how they talk about the esamble in this show. Its so annoying and disrespectful to me. There are INSANELY talented people in the ensamble.
Anyway, I am looking forward to the next episode since the reviews have been saying its great, and based on the clips I've seen I think it looks pretty good. Nick Jonas is going to guest star and so far his interaction with Megan(Ivy) is pretty dang adorable. I like Nick Jonas, he seems like a nice good and I thought he did a good job in the Les Mis musical.
