This little regional performance ran for a couple of weeks in August and wow, was it fantastic. Did anyone else end up seeing it? (Apart from Jess, Kelly and Jodi anyway--I saw you there!) Link to awesome sneak-peek videos and clips. Ariel was much much better in the performance IMO, but Eric was just as win. He blew Sean and Drew out of the water (no pun intended) both acting and singing-wise. Any comments/details you liked/questions? Discuss. |

When it finally makes it on the road I will go see it again, with my sister.
What I saw of the costumes in the video clips impressed me. How did they look on the stage?

Fantastic. Certainly better than the costumes in the Broadway performance. They used a lot of reflective pieces in their costumes, but it was much more subtle than Broadway's. That goes for the sets too. They used a lot of reflective streamers which gave the impression of water really well. Eric got an extra couple costume changes, one of which makes him look exactly like Simon from Firefly. They drew a lot from the film and gave it their own spin. It worked out well.

Just FYI Coral. This wasn't a tour. This was one of only two regional performances before Disney froze the rights. Disney is now revamping the musical for a European tour, planning to appeal more to adults and focus more on the relationships in the film, especially Ariel and Triton and Ariel/Eric.

Oh yes. If new info comes out I'll be diving for it. I love love love Ariel and Triton's father/daughter dynamic and of course Ariel and Eric's relationship so I'm super excited.
