The last time I said anything about my personal life, I told ya'll I was back home in Louisiana. I'm still here and won't be going back to NY.
My fairy tale blew up in my face and knocked the wind out of my sails for nearly a year. It's over and I'm working on it making it legally over. I've had zero contact with him for almost 10 months. My mom has had some intermittent contact with him, the last one being New Year's weekend. That cinched it for me, when I read it.
I'm a "serious" writer working towards publication. My words dried up. While I was at my Mimi's for a month, I crossed some kind of bridge and I'm me again!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know exactly what happened or how, but I'm so glad it did.
My main thing is historical romance and I've been working on the same one for three years. First in formation and characters, then I actually started the real writing in 2009 with the goal of getting the first draft finished that year. Didn't happen. Then last year was a total bust on the writing front. I did some sketches and random scenes here and there but nothing substantive.
Then at Mimi's, the dam broke. I wrote somewhere around 15,000 words in the 4 weeks I was up there. Since February I have added about 30,000 words to this novel and I am officially in the middle! I'm sitting at 46,538 right now with a projected word count of 95-100K. My goal is to be at around 75K by September, when I attend my writing conference, so I can pitch to agents. I'd actually love to be past that and close to the end.
Things are finally looking up for me and I'm getting my groove back.
