So, what do we know about it?
I have to say as a Louisiana native I am *extremely* skeptical about the whole thing. What I've heard so far does not leave much hope that they will capture the true spirit of historical New Orleans.

Lol. Yeah, since America has never had a princess. I was also losing hope when the project was in early development. It sounded like they were trying to be too politically correct to function. I mean being respectful is always good, but THEN there's overly sensitive. Which can rob good story telling, among more important things.
But there are things that are appealing about it from what I do know. Like in the trailer Tiana is very funny and cute. It also says she "saves Prince Naveen like Belle saved Beast", another good thing.

Being politically correct *always* sacrifices the spirit and unquiness of N.O. You can't put that city in a box.

Lol. Yeah, since America has never had a princess. We have Pocahontas. I am looking forward to the film, not only for the film aspect, but for what it is going to bring to the theme parks. I'm a Disney cast member, for those who don't know, and we're super excited about getting another character over there. Especially one who is African American. As it is, we only have one, and she's brand new: Iridessa from the Disney Fairies line. And one can only hope that we perhaps get Naveen too. But the movie looks interesting, Tiana looks adorable, and I'm super excited that 2D animation is returning!

I'm looking forward to "The Princess and the Frog" since I gave up hope that 2d was gone after "Home on the Range"

I am very glad they're giving 2D another go. The only one I've watched post-Pocahontas is Emporer's New Groove. I hope they can recapture the magic they had during the second Golden Age.

I always watched every Disney animated film on cinemas when they came out since Beauty and the Beast. I'm keeping myself hyped. Yippee

I'm excited for it. I can't wait for the return of 2D animation. Can you believe it's been 5 years since Disney has made a traditionally animated movie( Home on the Range )? Five years.. So is Menken composing the music?

I haven't really heard of this, but I guess that means it hasn't had much hype at all. Not good if you're trying to promote something for the first time IMO.

Lol. Yeah, since America has never had a princess. We have Pocahontas. Lol, I am talking more about that America hasn't held a monarchy like other countries where Disney films take place. It's still early, and I think it'll pick up when the summer comes around. I think by then they'll have the coloring books, dolls, games, and what have to get people excited.

I used to dislike the idea of this movie (Really, Disney? No fantasy beyond a frog?), but I'm getting more excited about it every day.
Nope, Randy Newman is. He's done most of the Pixar films, so I'm confident the score will be good. It's a shame that Menken isn't returning for another Disney film, though. Maybe he'll do one in the future.
Is the film literally set in America or is the setting just based on New Orleans? I assumed the latter considering the "no princesses in America" deal.
The future of 2D basically rides on this movie, so I'd imagine the hype will start rolling in a couple of months. They've already got costumes and dolls ready for the shelves, so more should be coming. Don't forget the new princess at Disney World! I'll probably be going in February '10; hopefully they'll keep Tiana around until then.

Don't quote me on this but I think Menken's doing the music for Rapunzel.

It's literally New Orleans, 1920's New Orleans to be exact. That Cajun firefly gets on my nerves! It is the absolute worse fake Cajun accent I've ever heard.

For me personally, I'm excited for Anika Noni Rose because her voice is amazing and I'm hoping that there will be songs sung by the characters so she can show it off (since they cut down her part in "Dreamgirls"), the return of 2-D animation which is just the stuff my childhood was made of, and for the fact that now I will finally have a chance at being a princess in Disney World! I understand; I also have trepidation about both the location and the culture they're trying to capture; people feel very passionately about the perception/adaption of both. But, I think I'll wait until there's more information and I see more of the movie before I decide to be charmed or outraged. Right now, I'm cautiously optomistic, and trying to stop myself from sending Disney my measurements for a crown

There's a new trailer on YouTube! Our favorite princess makes an appearance.
I'm not totally impressed with the animation (the effects look spectacular, but Tiana...eh.) but I'm sure the movie will take us back to the glory days of 2D. The scenery's phenomenal! I can't stop looking at it. Is it just me, or do the water effects resemble those in The Swan Princess?

I have to say GREAT call on Disney's part to show the prince in the trailer when he's not a frog, less he suffer the same fate as Beast!Prince. LOL
I do really like the characters, though. I don't want my princes and princesses to be perfect. ::shakes fist:: Layers I want! Layers! LOL

Now I'm even more excited! 2D animation is back! ::parades around:: I really like the animation. The backgrounds and the character design are both very impressive. The effects are amazing. The TLM clip at the beginning made me smile.

I'm slowly (key word) warming up to Prince Naveen, though I'm still skeptical. When I first saw his picture, I thought: Really? They're making this jerk a Disney Prince? But when i saw his commoner outfit/dancing, I took a little liking for him. I still think he sounds like his ego needs deflating, but I'll reserve my judgment until the movie.
