I saw it on Tuesday. I. LOVED. IT.
Has anyone else seen it yet? I know Rachel said she had plans to see it with her sister.
*Light Spoilers*
Anyway, I thought it was a really well done trasition from the movie to a musical. I actually found myself liking some of the characters more then I did in the movie.Christopher Ryan was quite cute as Federick and has made me a fan of that character. Gene Wilder is amazing but what I like about the stage Frederick (Fronkensteen!) is that he seemed to man up to his mistakes a little bit more and you got a deeper sense that he did care about the man he made. If its one thing I hate in these retellings is when the doctor is a huge jerk and abandons the thing he brought back to life. Granted that's pretty much what happened in the origanal but even that had consiquences....
Anyway, Igor and Frau Blucher *horses nay* were HISTERICAL. I will say its more crass then I was expecting but if you consider its Mel Brooks and that the jokes come from the mind of a dirty old man xD The rest of the cast was great too! I really thought they were all really insync. I was nervous about the Igor understudy (Noah Aberlin, who is actually really cute!) but he was really great and you could tell he was having a lot of fun. Heck, everyone looked like they were having a lot of fun! I loved that.
Also, 'Life Life' was one of the most awesomely epic scenes for me that I've seen in a musical. It was just pic-perfect and set the tone for the scene, not to mention the lighting sequences were to die for.
'Join the Family Business' was another I really liked. It deepened Frederick's character more while making it an over the top just flat out awesome number. And the giant monster puppet was just plain cool!
Anway, I HIGHLY reccomemd going to it if you get the chance, well worth the money.
