I thought this would be a good idea. This is a thread for any kind of suggestion you have for the site, to improve it, critque it, etc... I thought this would help out the site.

We're still working on a design for the site. I'm going to do some exploring of the Proboards templates, and we hope to eventually have some sort of custom design.

I have some friends at my BatB forum who are amazing with graphics. I'll ask them about what to do. I think this place could really pop! LOL I'll spread to the word to other fishies that would like to join. I see a lot of potenial with this place. And am really happy to be here in the early stages.  And as I pm'ed Coral we could ask Bittersweet and Strange (the BatB forum) about being affliates. I talked to one of the main admins, a friend of mine Trudi and she'd really like to discuss it. She's very cool. She used to not like TLM , and I used to not like Gaston's character (though he amused me) one bit, but we opened to other up to deeper things with the other. I love when stuff like that happens XD I can post something about this on DA (Deviant Art) But then I'd take my link down for LAF, just to keep peace  |

The only place where this has to be kept secret is in direct communication with LAF. I've posted the link in comments on a couple of DA accounts. If the place starts to grow, as I hope it will, then keeping it a secret at LAF won't be as important.

For the background, it may be common and boring, but I think a water type design would be cool. Or, some sort of a picture of a grotto, since this is called the 'Secret Grotto' lol..

Not at all, Jodi! That's fine with me. I'm sure most of your watchers aren't likely to spill the beans to Steph anyway.
I am working on a background in my head. I'm going to try to work on it this weekend. I went on a cruise for summer vacation last year and I have some *gorgeous* pics of the water in the western Caribbean. Want to see if I can get one of those to work as a background and then do the colors off that.
Also have plans to fiddle with a banner and make some sig stuff this weekend.

I can't do anything fancy, because the requires Photo Shop, but I can do basic stuff and add text and things like that.

Oooh, love the ideas for the theme/color scheme. I'd stress readability over everything else, though--you might have to mute the colors on any background pictures. I'm sure they'd still be gorgeous, though.
I've got PSP for minor photo-editing, though it does a good job with icons and such. I haven't heavily edited graphics for a while, though.

Exactly! Readability is the top priority for any theme, IMO. I'm not that old, but I have stumbled across many sites that I like but couldn't explore because I can't read it or the graphics are obnoxious.
The ocean water background won't show up with text over it, if I can get it to work. It would be the very background background image.

Do you have any of the Caribbean pictures uploaded? I'd love to see them. I've always loved the two shots of Eric's palace--one with the moon shining, and the other against the dawn. Lots of sparkly water and pretty lighting. They remind me of those classic waterscapes.

Yup, check your PM from Frida. To put it simply for anyone else who might be curious there's bad blood between the administration of the two boards and in the interest of keeping the peace we're choosing not to advertise ourselves on LAF at this point in time.
People are welcome to post to both, just please don't mention TSG publicly on LAF.

To make a long story short there was recently some problems with the Admins at LAF being hostile towards topics and lines of discussion they felt were not what the forum should be about. Said topics including, fanfic, the musical, and a thread about Eric's character that happened to become very popular.
There had been a previous history of people either leaving or being pushed out of LAF for similar reasons, including Coral, and when I mentioned what was going on she came up with the idea of starting a more inclusive Mermaid forum.
The main reason for not making reference to TSG at LAF is that we don't want to make things difficult for anyone choosing to be a part of both.
