That's still just a matter of opinion. I left an rp recently who was pairing Ariel with Gaston, according to the rper it was cause he was "good looking and care free" and even talked about how dumb Ariel's character. It was a bunch of bull to me and clearly the rper just using her for her own fangirl fantasy deal she has for Gaston. But since it was a Beauty and the Beast forum they only cared about how the B&TB characters were being played. Which is wrong since there are people who try really hard no matter where they rp and don't take on characters they have a negative view of. So basically, while I enjoy AUs and cross-shipping myself, its more often then not miss and rarely what I consider a hit You know what people don't realize is, unlike other movie companies, Disney and Pixar always show you a good reason why the hero and heroine deserve each other. TLM showed you why Ariel should marry Eric instead of a merprince (and why Eric should marry Ariel instead of a human princess) why Jasmine should marry Aladdin instead of Jafar, why Naveen should marry Tiana instead of Charlotte, why Jessie should be with Buzz instead of Woody, why Minnie should be with Mickey instead of Mortimer, why Giselle should be with Robert instead of Edward. Disney and Pixar are very good at doing that. |

I agree canon gets it right most of the time and as I said earlier in this thread most of the world is fimilar with canon couples and like them for sentimental reasons. I doubt the Disney company would change how they've set things up based on a few fanfics and fanart, cause not that big of the population actually even cares LOL
