It dawned on me a couple of minutes ago that we don't have a thread for our favorite pup! -grins- He's such a rambunctious furball and he probably runs second in getting Eric into trouble. Ariel being the first, of course. What do you all have to say about him?

I once had slippers that were Britoshlavian sheepdogs. I called them Max of course!

I LOVE Max! Ever since I saw the movie, I vowed that if I ever got a dog, I'd name him Max. Sadly, I don't have one yet, but that promise stays true. He's so smart and awesome!

I had a giant sheepdog plushie when I was little. He was my big fuzzy pillow and I'd lay on him all the time. Not Max, but good enough. I wish I could find him again.
Heh, my pup's a girl and we adopted her, so Trixie's gonna be Trixie forever. Lady DID call Tramp out and mentioned a Trixie, though...XP
I've always wanted to know how he and Eric met and what sort of trouble he and Ariel would get into. They'd make great adventuring buddies pretty fast, methinks. I'm sure once Ariel learned to swim human style, Max doggy-paddled along with her and Eric when they went out.

Aww, of course I love the doggy. I'll say it before and I'll say it again- Max was the smartest character in the entire movie... and he couldn't talk! XD
I always thought Eric got him at a stage in life where he was feeling more akward than he did in his older years. So Max was a constant companion and an un-judging one at that. A person who listened when Eric did open up lolz
Oh, I *love* to know what kind of trouble Max would get into XD
I have a special scene planned for him in TTWDPF, I just need to get it all down! Gawd, this gets so frustrating sometimes lolz

Max is such a common name. I wonder if he had any brothers or sisters. Where did Eric get him and why the name Max? I know these are things none of us knows about Max. =/

I always imagined Max's mama would be around the kingdom somewhere, if Max was found and not bought, anyway. He looks scraggly and mutt-like (then again most sheepdogs are super-fuzzy) so I could believe the former. Although it would be funny if Max was bought off of some posh dog breeder and Max ended up being less of a show-dog and more of a water-loving sailor buddy.

I love Max. I really love how the animators made him looked so fluffy and huggable. Personally, I've always kinda thought of him as being from this family of purebred prizewinners, but like Zavi said, he's just Eric's travel buddy.
Love the image of Max dog paddling alongside Ariel and Eric, and Ricky getting him when he was just a gangly awkward kid.
I think Melody needs a little Max of her own. XD Maybe one of his (hypothetical) puppies!

Max reminds me of some of the dogs I remember down in Alabama, where some of my family lives. Just jumps on you, and smothers you. To me, it never gets old lol..
